bet what ? this 1.6L Corolla catch is the possible jump many will perform coz the way prices are going up it will make no sense (unless one really have a pressing need) to get even a reasonable car, let alone 1.6L engine ! So good luck to all fellows !

Hmm Not really. I rarely drive the GLI as its in family use. Even on my civic I can rarely cross 60 in the city.

Yea; Lahore traffic has become insane; it used to be not that bad 1-2 years ago! I moved back from LHR in 2009! But lucky me; here in FSD; we have few roads where I can drive my Civic easily even upto 100; and I am loving pissing off XLI/GLIs on signals these days Fridays are best for this!

So guys which version to book? GLI AUTO or ALTIS M/T? I am inclined towards ALTIS M/T

i repeat..i have alraedy seen one 1.6 on the roads in islamabad...parked in metro parking...wats the fuss abt the launch thingy..its already there bro ...i confirmed it and saw the 6 speed manual transmission inside the car

dats called central console....arm rest is different

Corolla is a compect sedan, the front center console has soft padded top that doubls as front center arm rest beside being the console cover.

But no rear arm rest in XLi not because it is compact sedan but to charge more money from GLi customers, wicked indus.

Dear only the Altis is in the showroom not the GLi Auto.i had a short test drive of the Altis Auto 1.6.and surely it lacks power no match for the Civic 1.8 now.moreover the Altis 1.6 auto do no not have that plus,minus gear shifter it has L,2 and 3 that means u can hold the car in 3 gears only.And yes the manual has 6 gears.Only it has nice instrument cluster!

06/07 city was a compact sedan also...and it had a dedicated arm rest..abt the padded center console u r talking abt, its so low that u cant keep ur arm on it...hence, useless

^^ That is why these are compact they have to compromise to some extent, BTW the city you mentioned has only driver side console, the passenger remains deprived unless he/she is wide bodied and can reach the driver's arm rest.

Uhhh yea above 150 is what you get in Islamabad and Pindi areas ... not the rest of Pakistan. And well the rest of Pakistan is a looooooooooooooooot bigger. Im sure Karachi has more Corollas than the number of cars in Isloo + pindi.

My father lives in Karachi, I plan vacations twice a year in Karachi, I still manage to get more than 150 in his old Corolla EE80 which is in its 15th year of servive in our family.

still..it did have ONE arm rest at least....the corolla console cant be used by either of the front two passengers as both wud have to tilt to rest their arms on the console...and as i said, HENCE USELESS

Yes Liana is not a competitor here as you mention has a higher capacity cylinder, and does average 230 km in city drive in my case.
