its the effect of colour. white makes the side cars look bigger. as with any car. white would reveal the contours and hence make it look bigger. try it with the 8th gen civic in particular. it looks much grand in white ad compared to any other colour

In the end what matter is what people are buying more..trust more.. Hyundai might be producing extraordinary designs but the fact come back to the numbers on the paper. Again as I mentioned.. Hyundai/Kia might be making good looking cars.. but what matters more is how reliable and quality material they are using.. and the fact is you can see that when you sit in it.. My personal experience after test driving Camry and Sonata extensively including Elantra ( ALL THESE FULLY LOADED) when I was looking for a new car

so who copied whom.... my opinion, after hyundai hired new designers and came up with new beautiful designs+lots of standard equipment+less cost+more warranty they started winning over the u.s and europian markets,even uae.

toyota and honda were reducing the quality+floods hit japan breakking supplies+ they were intentionally making less cost vehicles uglier so their more expensive variants could sell more based on looks..that happens only in a monopoly. hyundai and kia broke that.

now the japanese have realised the worth of better designs and better materials and they are doing the right thing in making new cars more attractive even if they have to copy any other brand. thats great for consumers, toyota and honda have better engines and this competition would drive them towards producing better vehicles. consumer wins this time.

and as for pakistanis, we would love if indus motors has enough brain to launch this quickly before honda city2014, and do not skimp on the bits that make this design stand out, like daytime running leds, front chrome bits and make sure the suspension does not look jacked up from behind. this jacked up thing is killing honda civic these days.

My previous experience tells me that we will get the North American spec here in Pakistan. Because the last generation and the current generation(in Production) are North American Spec. So I will discount the Euro spec version.

Regarding the XLi and GLi thing....I think in Pakistan XLi and GLi have become brands more than just the trims. To abolish a brand is going to be a big decisions for Toyota Indus.

In my opinion Toyota will keep on the 1.3 variant going and only shift to the R generation 2NR-FE and discontinue the 2NZ-FE.
I think they will stick the the 1.6 1ZR-FE with a 6 speed manual and 4 speed auto S-ECT. They will not go for the CVT option being offered on US and EU.

Regarding the Diesel. 1.4 D4-D will be great option(If offered which I doubt). CRD engines will struggle till the time our oil companies pull their socks up and start offering decent(not great) Diesel. Currently the diesel we are getting in Pakistan is the worst you can find in the world. It is High on Lead and High on Sulphur.
But if we do get a 1.4 D4-D variant in it might become a success as the per kilometer cost of running will certainly drop. I think Toyota Indus is not brave enough to make such a move.

2NR-FE is 1500cc and it produces just 90 bhp.
The current 2NZ-FE is 1300cc and it produces 85 bhp which is not enough for the current Corolla.
