Despite all the problem and my annoyance with the Toyota Company in particular, the response and attitude of Toyota Southern Motors ( Their Dealers) has been very good. In fact they have helped me very much and as promised they have repaired the car and are delivering it to me at my house. Thank you TSM and particularly Mr Saeed, their service manager.

well,its sad to know wat happened wid ssh.but i hope he just got unlucky nd got a bad piece.i m a big rival of toyota corolla itself, but still,i hav never accused it of reliability issues.so,if one car had got a bad axel,dosent mean all the other too.corolla is one of the most reliable car of pakistan.nd every1 wud agree wid me.

when a car is new in the market,usually it has sum problems.here a pic of a civic,when it was recently launched.but that dosent mean civic is not a good car,or it isnt quality assuring.but THIS was just a bad piece.

well after all the leader of the nation is getting a bribe of 2 cars daily which is almost 30 grand a day. from the local vendors to keep the quality stuff out of market and keep their pockets full so you will get such stuff.a simple defination for local make cars of Cars made for profit purpose by the vendor produced with the cheapest parts made by the cheapest bidder ....

There's not much you can do for the other driveshaft. God forbid if that lets go at high speed, you'll have a problem. Just to be on the safe side, if ever you feel that you feel an unnatural vibration in your steering or you hear clicking sounds when turning and/or accelerating, have the car booked in for a thorough checkup at TSM. Let them know that you aren't feeling safe with the car.

If it were a suspect wheel bearing, you could always jack the tyre up and try to rock it and listen for play, but for a driveshaft, I'm not sure you can check anything without dismantling it completely. Even then, there's no guarantee that you could see anything. After all, the original driveshaft that broke passed inspection right?

I am glad they fixed it(Y) This is a major issue and Toyota needs to look into it. Little things always go wrong with new car but this is not a small issue. They need to recall.

such problem can occur in any car whether local or imported.

I still remember someone posted a thread about auto transmission of a new Chevrolet going faulty, which was not available at local dealers and his new car being standing in garage since 6 months or so. what could be more frustrating than that...!?

a big advantage of local cars is the availability of parts. though I heard taht 60% of parts at indus are kabli (someone working in indus told me)

I never said that it did because it was local. But you're right, I'd rather have a part fail on a car that was manufactured locally rather than on an imported vehicle.

I should also make a difference between perceived quality (fit and finish) and the failure rate. Even in locally manufactured cars, I don't think the failure rate is that high, you may correct me on this though.

In addition to that, whoever has said that local car quality is all c**p should look at what the foreign markets are dishing out. Don't look at Audi / BMW/ Mercedes / Lexus. Those are not in the Corolla's range. Look at Dodge, Chevrolet (Daewoo in other words), VW, Peugeot/Citroen, Renault, Dacia etc... I'm not sure that they are any better in quality, perceived or otherwise.

Did the vehicle had any mileage before you took the delivery?? like 40 50km?? It could be a manufacturing (assembly issue) but it also could be something that could happen in delivery . ( from factory to truck etc).as yuo have mentioned that there is a slight tilt in the wheel also. I suggest that you give the vehicle a carefull look over through an independent entity ( such as a dealer other than the one you mentioned) and if the doubts that I have mentioned above are confirmed than you should ask for a new vehcile.

and it is not difficult to confirm the doubts that i have mentioned above.. all you need is a trained eye
