Love your Patrol, but this seems a very crude solution with alot of drawbacks! <personal opinion>And a fuel tank too does have alot of science to it!Still, atleast I hope you took into account the fuel starvation issue too, if not then you surely cannot use it to full capacity
well its quit easy to steal... and a full tank is like a treasure chest n make a locked cage for it
looking vry vry odd.... U ruined the beauty of your truck
Well how about in speedy turns handling of car and in day time direct sunlight heating will cause some smell.
LOL>
sherwan but a cover on it like this one
Its a risky tank though.
Hey Hey-----OMG,,,,,yaar Sherwan,,,, what are you upto? unless you are planning to do a world tour in one fuel tank, i hardly see a utility,,,, anyhow, since i know you a little,,,,,, great
Agreed
No off roading these days. Fields are planted with rice and would not be open till the end monsoon.
As in?
Dr. Emmett Brown: If my calculations are correct, when this baby hits eighty-eight miles per hour... you're gonna see some serious ****.
Hey Mitsu,Never thought of it that way before, but your idea is interesting.Running low on cash, sell some diesel out that tank.
On the contrary i am a alleged murderer and killer of 4x4's on pakwheels, ironic aint it?
I am currently working on that. Hoping to find a carbon fiber cover but i suppose i would to go with fiber glass.
Well it was never about utility. As you know i've been hooked up with a 4 inch lift by our profound member you know. Now with a winch setup weighing about 70-80kgs at the front all the weight is actually at the front. The rear was 6 inches high than standard which causes huge problems with the suspension and with no real grip as there is no weight at the back. With a 230 liter tank filled up 3/4 it comes down to 4 inches balancing out the vehicle and that weight makes the tires stick to the road. I was having problems with the tail spinning out every turn at normal speeds which is quite unusual for a 4x4 humongous 4x4 to do.
The second reason i did was the local fuel contamination. I've filled up the Np at almost every pump in hopes of getting uncontaminated fuel but with no luck. I get 10 liters of water in every 100 liters of fuel plus the crap which flows in from the tanks. What i do is simply fill it up let it sit for a night, then i open up the drain nut and let the water out and close it up as soon as the diesel starts to flow out. A crude technique for filteration but it works for me. You know that is the reason why Common rail diesels have a very short life in pakistan and so EFi one's also have a minor issue with this. If i don't drain the water and just use what comes from the pump i am prone to loose the pump and injectors at a very fast pace.
I do agree that this tank is a bit controversial but makes my life a bit easier.
As in, how easy is this this to rupture?
If 12 Gauge tempered and polished steel with 8 gauge L type iron beam external shell is not good enough then i can't do any better than that. I did test it by topping it off with water and pressurizing it at 8 psi with nothing going wrong.
From my experience i have seen 500 liter plastic, and i mean desi plastic tanks which hold veg oil (which is heavier than diesel) for ages. Locals have mounted them on small pick up trucks and drive the thing like its stolen and go on for years with out a single leak and i think is steel is much stronger than average plastic
But in the light of things that my knowledge is only limited to my stupidity i might and can be wrong with this.
Thanks for the explanation.
Nice
@sherwan
Pardon me But it more looks like some Mosque Chanda Box at back of 4x4
