New Shape Prius or Altis Grande?

How much do you travel in a week? If under 600km, you'll hardly save 1000 rs with a prius.
Besides whats the fun in NOT flooring a car? Prius is meant for people who have to drive a lot and are habitual travellers. Its useful in that sense.

Well I thought when it comes to flooring then Prius beats a grande or a civic hands down! And if you get to save Rs 1k fuel on top of that then I say why not!. Why spend more when you can be faster spending less?

Prius seems the better option if you can get the brand new like one.

Yaar the guy said mileage drops in case of extensive ac use in summers esp when its parked with ac on.

that is just the digital one, once I had to stay in car for 5 hours in June, 5 ghantay AC chala raha, with engine turning off and battery kicking in after short intervals, the digital one dropped from 20 km/l to 13 km/l but when I reset it, it got back to normal.

Lol. I just meant when flooring results in the same consequences in both cars. One tank I used up in my car by flooring almost all of te drive. Maine socha 7 average de gi ya 8. It was still 10kpl. Hehe

Prius parts are getting cheaper, the side mirror which was for Rs. 25,000 last year is now for Rs. 15,000 that too the asking price, original tail lights if 3rd Gen which were around 50k for a pair are now for 30k, this being open to negotiation as well.
As far as resale is concerned, the last 10 year trend says that Altis has pathetic resale and gives a great loss at the time of selling, 3 saal purani Altis aur GLi ki price mein zyada fark nahi hai although new cars mein the difference is a lot.
Having owned both Prius and 11th Gen Corolla I can easily advise others to buy Prius.

I was comparing the parts price with altis one ...after a year altis parts will be cheap but we can't expect miracles when it comes to prius parts.. Previous altis cant b compare to current one because its a whole new altis:D nd prius enjoys some what resale in big cities nd its an alien to rest of pakistan

Well a guy I know was highly dissatisfied with prius in summers. Haven't owned one for long myself thiugh.

And regarding your daily routine, I don't think prius is a good option for you.

Yaar when I drive the car, it gives almost 13 kmpl in city and 16-18 on motorway. But my driver is a real **** and he floors it alot. I do floor it as well but not all the time. So mixed average I get is nearly 12-12.5 all in city. With little bit of ac mostly at noon when its unbearable in the car with Windows rolled up.

Na na. Its easy on pocket. 44L fuel go well for around 525-535 kms within city. Its fun to drive it fast which I occasionally do on open roads. Hehe
Other than that its CVTi whoch really cuts down on fuel expenses having the charm of automatic and the torque of a manual car within. In manual mode ot average improves further, but I don't drive in manual most of the times n stop n go traffic.

Parts of prius are hell costly (take a look at market) nd incase of any (ALLAH apne hifz o aman me rakhay)accident or some thing all ur fuel savings will be gone nd prius dont enjoy great resale so buying altis seems more practical + nothing beats the drive nd freshness of new car .... Nd spending 2.5 million on imported used car ...hosla chaiay is k liay

In case of Lahore parts of Prius are not an issue, and in Bilal gunj each and everything is available at cheap rates; from lights to batteries.

I don't know about the new Corolla but I have beaten my cousin's 2010 2.0D and 2009 GLi and a Friend's Reborn in a 1.5 Prius. Fuel savings are unbelievable and comfort is mouth watering, only parts are a bit expensive.

Well if you are not concerned about the vehicle being zero meter than I think Prius has more features than the Grande but grande has introduced some nice features as well. Your priority should be the comfort I guess, whichever is more comfortable should be your choice. But then again personal preference when it comes the exterior/interior matters as well.

If it were me I'd go for a prius I love the way it doesn't make a sound when I am standing by the road and one passes me by, I just love that

Bro 9th Gen has better fuel average than Grande!!! My 9th Gen's are giving 10-12.5 in city depend on driving style and long routes 14-15 at speed of 110-120 and i myself drove at speed of 90 for 100 kms or so and got average of 21.5 KM/Ltr and it was 100% authentic, cause i got only fuel of Rs. 500.00 from Sukheki when i have last bars being showing in fuel bar and after driving for 100 Kms till my home it was back on 2 bars... petrol was 113 at that time!!!

and for Grande, we have driven it for 150 kms till now and its showing average of 8.1 till now!!!!

yes brother comfort is what that matters to me the most. I never got tired on my fielder even driving for an hour and it had 17 inch alloys. Yes Prius has more features. haha indeed the silence of Prius has enough to say, that minimal sound of the motor has its own charm. InshAllah will finalize in a day or so.
