Detailed Review for Cultus AGS.
Well I am writing this detail review for the members of Pak wheels so as to assist them in making proper decision whether to buy or not.
âAGS âthe name pops up in the mind and bell rings, it a new thing in the market letâs take a chance.
Before going further let me describe that before purchasing AGS I have been using from Suzuki -Mehran , Cultus old one and 660 cc Wagon R (JDM). From Honda -City 2016. From Toyota -Corolla GLi, and 2006 Vitz(JDM).
Now let us start our review with the AGS ownership.
ENGINE:
1) The engine fitting is very nicely done, all parts are easy to reach and is not difficult form maintenance point of view, However, to change the air filter you need to a screw driver to do the job which is not easy for busy user.
2) Being 1000cc the response of throttle is good, one can feel the power packed in the engine.
3) Engine is based on new technology (K10-B) therefore it is fuel efficient. Users are reporting from 12~18 Km/Liter average based on driving habits, fuel and traffic condition.
4) Compression ratio is 11:1 meaning fuel quality of 87 Ron can be used for day to day basis and the engine can produce optimal power.
5) Brakes being ABS are perfect for day to day use.
GEAR BOX
Being Clutch-less it is not easy for an automatic car driver to understand why the car has a lag in gear change. Let me explain what it is:
- AGS is just clutch-less meaning the gear changes like a normal manual car but it is done automatically, the lag is due to gear change and to change gear it takes couple of seconds.
- I have not found it to be very reasonable to drive with this lag just as if the car is galloping water down the throat, but despite this the pick and economy is up to the mark.
- With this we also get a manual gear change and to get into perspective its s fun to drive you can change the gear as you like and the engine is responsive enough to suit your needs.
- On the downside it does not have any parking option so you have to acquaint yourself with the manual handbrake parking.
- The actuator (AGS controller) also produce a hissing sound and it is normal but a driver cannot ignore this when in idle.
- Engine is also responsive with 5 people on board with aircon.
INTERIOR:
1) First thing First â The dashboard-Cultus has a very reasonable dashboard the quality is not exciting but also not dull, it is designed for the customer who thinks âyeah I will live with thisâ.
2) The Odo meter/cluster meter has many driver assisted tools such as average, distance the fuel last, outside temperature, Clock, and fue other options.
3) Steering is nice and comfortable in hand.
4) The Clarion Audio unit is sufficient for the user need but the color of the Unit is badly mismatched by the color of the interior.
5) Cup Holder position is not very practical and two disposal cups ( from a drive-Thru) cannot fit in.
6) Seats are not very comfortable specially the head placement of the seat, it is not bent and impose stress on your neck.
7) Rear seats are spacious enough for two adults and a child and considerable head and leg room.
8) The truck has enough capacity for a family shoppingâs and groceries
9) Air Conditioner of the car is superb and works well in the scorching heat.
HANDLING
Car handles in bands and corner very nicely and responsively however, the stock tyres are not adequate to provide the road grip needed. You feel in corners that the tyre and steering connection is lost somewhere.
Car comfort is on the plus side and easily handles the bumps on the unpaved road.
BUILT QUAILITY
Being Pak assembled, I would emphasis the car is built nicely but the quality control is not up to the mark you can clearly see the joints marks which are not properly addressed. Same goes with the interior where linings/Parts are not properly fitted. And in my opinion so does the paint work, it is not a quality paint and is thin.
VERDICT
AGS is new to the market despite some cons it is still very practical and easy to maintain (less on pocket) car. In the end it is user who decide what is best for him. Being user of this car, I would recommend for those who want a maintenance and hassle free drive.
