I was collecting some info on the net and what I found out is:

The duty on import of 1300cc cars is 11000$ and you get depreciation at 1% per month upto 50% so the minimum duty to paid will be atleast 5500$

The freight, insurance, landing fees, agent comission etc will be around 2000-2500$

Now if you are looking to import an ad van than around 7500-8000$ will be minimum you have to pay i.e 675,000-720,000. Now a good condition advan i.e 3.5-4 grade with B interior and having very less touchups as shown on auction sheet will cost 2000-2500$ i.e 180,000-235,000. Now adding all will come out to be 855,000-955,000. This is the amount you have to pay to clear your car now you have to get it registered it will cost you around 25,000 and if you go for seat change i.e 20,000 so you can get your advan driveable at around 900,000-1,000,000. Now the thing I dont understand is that I have come to know that dealers earn minimum 100,000 on a imported vehicle so the cost now becomes 1,000,000-1,100,000. A surprising thing is that inspite all the above costs dealers are still selling fresh imports at around 850,000-900,000 unregistered and 950,000-1,000,000 for registered ones:P So daal mein kuch kala hai;)

Well the thing is all such commercial Japanese cars are driven more than 100k km and cost around 1000$ yes 1 thousand dollars now if according to depreciation @ 50% (model is 2007) you would have to pay 496313.80 amount of duty and additional 2000$ for shipping and clearing so the grand total is 767029 Rs this just an example

That’s the kind of math’s i don’t understand, but I have heard that regular importers have established channels and can get further "discounts" by paper manipulations. Of course they are reluctant to give out sp. details

I was also interested in AD van but a dealer told me that it gives 8-9km per litre in the city and 12 on long. He told me to buy the car which has VVTi engine instead. Dont know whether he is right or wrong, but I got confused.

will be gettin my Nissan AD van on MOnday InshaAllah , bought it for 860k , unreg , no power windows ,auto tranny and car is in total original paint.. reached port on 4th of feb..

plus will be giving 10K commission , 5K for reasonable mp3 player and am ok with manual windows.. the interior built quality is way better than local latest corolla and civics... just need to get some nice 15s(roughly 30K for a used set in good condition ) and rear seats changed ,,which gonna cost arnd 5-10 from SHoba bazar peshawar,, will post pics once i get the car...

many people in isb pesh told me that in local it gives 10-12 and in long around 14-16km...

I've been driving a Nissan AD since January this year. I haven't noticed any problems to date, I think it's a great family car and I would definitely recommend it to any potential buyers.

Moving on, I've installed a 55kg cylinder coupled with a Landi Renzo CNG kit and a PVR emulator. So far, I haven't felt the need to install a spark advancer as my car runs fine even without it. The check engine light comes on every time I run my car on CNG and when I got it checked, the code that was shown turned out to be "lean fuel mixture". I get a feeling that installing a spark advancer would resolve the issue.

As far as mileage is concerned, I get the following (keep in mind it has an auto-tranny):

City with AC: 120 kms
City without AC: 140-150 kms
Highway with AC: around 170 kms ( just a rough estimate, haven't checked as yet)
Highway without AC: 190-200 kms ( 191 for Motorway, and 202 for G.T road)

On petrol, my car did around 12 km/l within the city. I have no idea regarding the figures for highway driving as I haven't had the opportunity as yet. On petrol, that is

Regarding the availability of spares, there are a couple of shops in Chaah Sultan that I've personally visited that have stocked body parts for Nissan AD. I even have there visiting cards. Engine and mechanical parts are readily available in Saddar.

The only drawback is it's rear seat. Yes, it is uncomfortable and it cannot be ignored. I'm considering different options to take care of the above issue, and I'll definitely let my fellow Pakwheelers know whatever I come up with.

1800 gives more better economy
