lesson learnt is that - anything - absolutely anything is possible in Pakistan, a pulley fit wrongly - which will make the TDC punch marks completely useless.
Its wise to actually inspect everything leaving no reason of goof up - becuase it maybe there.
anyhow - For CD20 owners out there. if you want to install your crank-cam and cam-pump belts correctly follow the below.
Compression timing belt
make paint mark on a tooth of a new belt - count it as 1 and make a mark on tooth 43 towards right - both marks should be on the preset marks on the pulleys and the crank pulley should be pointing to its pump mark.at about 3 o clock - the cam would also be at 3 o clock too, install front tight - loosen tensioner - rotate with screwdriver - allow to tighten - spin engine forward by hand twice - tighten tensioner. DONE
injection timing belt
if you have a vacuum pump between the cam and pump - mark a tooth on the belt and then mark the 31st tooth counting from left to right - install it on the dot at 12 0 clock TDC on the cam pulley and the 31st tooth should be on the dot on the pump pulley (at about 2 o clock (be double sure that the pump pulley is installed with the woodruff key in keyway B of the pulley (or you may also be banging your head)
if you dont have a vacuum pump in the middle of the belt follow the same but with marks on 1 and 23 tooth on the belt. However the position of the pulley marks would be different
