Nissan R390 GT1 Road Version

The Toyota GT-One raced in the the Le Mans Prototype class and the rules did not require a road-going version to be produced. The R390 raced in the GT1 class and thus needed to be homologated just like the MB CLK GTR and the Porsche 911 GT1.

Yeah i know that...as i said..."IF" there is a road version of the Toyota GT-ONE.....

It actually turns out that there was one road-going version of the GT-One produced.

Is the engine a bespoke unit? Or is it a development of an existing enigne? Looking at the bore, I think it might be two SR20 or FJ20 blocks destroked and lobbed together at the middle. Then again, it could be a Nissan Patrol V8 unit.

Other than that, the $1,000,000 price tag seems fairly "normal" because all of the GT1 cars homologated for the road had the same price. The Porsche GT1, the CLK-GTR, the 333SP and the Riley & Scott WSC. Although in the case of the Riley & Scott and the Ferrari, I don't know who'd be nuts enough to run it on public roads.

I'm not sure if the R390 motor is bespoke or a development.

I believe the homologation requirements for Prototypes (333SP and R&S) are lax as compared to the GT1 requirements.

Here's what I dug up on the R390's engine (VRH35Z/L). As usual, wikipedia to the rescue:

It's based on the Nissan VH. The "Z" variant used a Magnesium block while the "L" variant is Aluminium.
