I saw a Ad in Spider Magazine, and A university in England was offering (Bachelors) Degree in Automotive engineering. It is a new field and I did not know about it as a student. So I went in Mechanical Engineering, my next best passion.

For Physics Chemistry, You need to work Extremely Hard. For Physics, Try "PHYSICS MATTERS" and For chemistry try "CHEMISTRY MATTERS" in my time, these books provided great informative and fun learning. I Recently saw these books at cousins, and new editions are totally impressive. Take a weekend out and study one of these from start. then immediately pick up past papers and solve some of them.

Now for Addmaths. Man! O level addmaths is exhausting! I worked daily 2 hours self study to improve. What a failure I was in addmaths! but then I took a VERY VERY expansive tutor. at that time, (8000 for only maths & addmaths and 3 days only 1 hour time). He used to hit me with sticks! Addmath was compulsory in my school too. Well, You must must must....

1. Have GREAT grades in addmaths and maths.
2. have atleast satisfactory grades in chemistry.
3. have Good grades in physics.
4. have enough credit points (volunteer work etc.)

To have a chance at a good job as mechanical engineer.
I still remember the coffins of little hope I took with me each day, The sacrifice of the Vanity of Human hopes I gave. I gave up on meeting relatives. I gave up on going restaurants. I gave up on meeting with friends. I gave up my social life. Believe me, Life changes after O/A levels. There is an end to suffering. I just used to think of the struggle through which my father was teaching me in such an expansive school and this motivated me. Now we are much more settled Mashallah. I have social life, I have good friends too! Just Keep focused, and you will make through the other side.

You can also opt for automobile engineering if that is your interest. It is increasing in scope and you could do extremely well in that, I sense that it you...

Are these the requirements for engineering? Thank you so much for the moral support. I'm looking for a good addmath tutor as my math tutor has refused to. Once again, thank you.

I read some entry requirements for engineering universities and commerce was amongst the ones that give you an advantage alongwith addmath. What should I do? I'm really confused. I need to decide by tonight.

I've been practicing addmaths since a week and it's way too hard for me. And it's also taking time away for other subjects! If I drop addmath and take commerce, will it help? I read some entry requirements for engineering universities and commerce was amongst the ones that give you an advantage alongwith addmath. What should I do? I'm really confused. I need to decide by tonight.

I checked the a-level maths paper. There are three modules in a-level maths. The first module(pure mathematics) of a-level maths is similar to addmaths in o-level. Its questions are even easier than addmath questions !
If you dont want to give CIE of addmaths then dont. As you have studied o-level addmaths before a-level maths then you wont face any problems In Sha Allah

i would have got a C in Addmath without a tutor. its time you spend hard cash on addmath. I got 'A' very hardly although I started studying addmath in 9 class from Tutor. I used to get not more than 70% in school, but look at my CIE. Just focus your effort truly on CIE not on school assigments. they are time hungry. making addmaths complusory is a BIG torture. but cant argue with schools, can we?

I'm dropping addmaths. I talked to my parents. I'm not confident at all. I have 7-8 months to do the whole syllabus and revise. I'm not very strong in chemistry or physics. I need to practice those seriously. I'm taking up commerce. I really wanted to do addmath but it's just too much for me.

now for mechanical engineering, I can help you. See, basic sciences(physics and chemistry) will be very useful. especially I find Physics concepts very useful. then After you have studied the course you have posted picture of, and give exams, you get bachelors degree. then you can do specialization in, for example automobile engineering, material sciences, nanotechnology(very exciting). You have many years for that to figure out. For now, I think your subject selection is optimum and stay with it. I was also very nervous of not being able to choose computer science (for engineering!) and choosing Economics(altleast better than world history and Eng.litrature in that set) and had thoughts of changing, it took some time but I showed devotion!

Oh brother! I can sense that things are not looking good for you. Sit with your parents, and do what they say.

I've talked to my parents. They said that I'm underestimating myself like I did in my last CIEs. After I gave them, I felt that I had not given my best and would not be able to score good grades. However, I ended up with 3 A's, Allhamdulilllah! They said that I should drop addmaths if it would harm my core subjects. They talked to math tutor who also said that with the time I have, I should not take up new challenges and work on revising my general maths, physics, chemistry and Computer science. I forgot to tell you all one more thing, I was studying the computer studies syllabus tilk June 2014. My school was apparently notified in May 2014 of the syllabus change from computer studies to computer science. New topics have been added. I googled it to find out that the change was announed in 2012 and implemented in 2013. The exams from M/J 2015 would be based on the new syllabus. I have one year to do the whole syllabus again! And have been forced to take ICT aswell! My parents have given me a freehand. They want me to be confident in whatever I do.

My friends from Elementry level are now in aitchision and are in their 1st year of A levels.

I really appreciate your support sir. But I have friends taking commerce, friends who are not even able to score B's in the core subjects, and they say it's very easy. I have also gone through a book for commerce and found it rather interesting. I also want to make some options for myself so that, God forbid, I don't get into a good engineering uni, I can apply for Business studies or eco (whatever I take in A Levels).

Just went through the syllabus(s). Commerce involves more common sense. Maths requires a lot of practice, for which I donot have time at this point. Believe it or not, I don't have time to socialise anymore. I need A's.
