Octane ratings of petrol in pakistan

if E10 is higher RONS than super so why doesn't people use E10 instead of Super??/

it can dissolve rubber/plastic fuel lines, all bolan's and carry dabbas have a sticker of e10 not recommended

so im trying to find out the exact octane ratings (RON research octane number) for the fuels we get here. shell caltex and pso do not really specify them on the brochures website etc. im especially curious about E10 octane rating that PSO sells.

its really pathetic that these huge companies sell so much of these products and have released zero technical info on them.

i wont beleive in technical info anyway from a company:) so it donest matter to me if they dont mention. this is Pakistan and laws dont apply here

such information is useful when you need to get something working when your machine has suffered a fault and the manufacturer is blaming fuel type. - You just shove this in their face and they will fight their way and you will get your solution.

by this standard if they are pumping raw sewage into your car it wont matter, because with this you can tie a bell to the cow.

i dont have engine knock with this so called hi octane here in Pk. so i beleive it s ard 91 plus figure

but i dont get full potention out from the motor.

these days its so hot here,, best to leave car parked than to worry abt ron rating.

cars usually run in city traffic at 2500 rpm with ac on full blast

the regular super we have here is 87octane - actually it used to be 87 it had a red shade in it now it has turned more than transparent and how come its 91? a 9.6:1 engine shouldnt knock on 91 octane

i thought 87 octane [regular] was completely banned.. 91 octane was in use as "super" while hobc was 97 octane.. and cng 120 octane ..;s

i think 87 RON is too low...how does civic reborn 10.5:1 compression run fine wit no knocking...was it specially tuned according to our fuel grades? theres many other jdm cars with 10+ compression running fine on 87RON

Some refineries as mentioned do produce 91octane as 'premium' fuel. Imported we get 87octane but it is also marketed as 'premium'. Thats the dhanda.

As for diesel, there are refineries producing both low sulfur and high sulfur diesel. We pay for ULSD but we essentially get somewhere about 0.5-0.1% sulphur content in diesel. AVERAGE.
Refineries do have plans to upgrade to produce 0.05% diesel and then move onto ulsd

Pak does not have the worst quality diesel in the world. Fortunately Afghanistan takes that place according to a UN study.

Pak has quite good diesel and comparable to the neighbourhood. However, we need govt. intervention to push for ULSD with <15ppm sulfur with legislation.

I've tried shell and pso stations. Next time I'm trying the Total station at Jhanda chichi (opp. wher mushy was attacked)

However my car is good when filled from westridge shell, RA bazar shell station and 5 sarki shell.

Correct. Make sure to check if your car is e10 safe. Most new cars are. E10 also has a shorter storage life since ethanol can also absorb water/moisture

Im curious abput this aswell. I highly doubt it tho. Even if it does run the ecu is probably working its *** off to compensate for the knock retarding timing etc. 50/50 mix hobc/super should wrok well.

I completely agree. Plus running low quality fuel isnt the only reason or solution to premature detonation.
These ratings also matter alot if youre running boost.
The manufacturer or suppliers wont care unless we care.

The 1UZ in my CJ is a 10.5:1 compression late model motor and it would always knock at low rpms regardless of the pedal position on Super. I used HOBC for a short while, which eliminated knock completely but made absolutely no contribution to performance otherwise. However, it's cost prohibitive so I switched to E10 on a friend's recommendation. Very pleased with it so far... no knock as long as it is in the right gear, and no loss in performance either. I've been keeping a close eye on the rubber parts of the fuel lines too - no leaks yet. I am using good quality American hoses though.

i thought E10 from PSO has been stopped...from where u getting E10 fuel? m using super for my civic reborn 10.5 compression n so far it run fine only disadvantage is fuel consumption which i get 9.5km/l as i shud be getting above 10km/l within city drive as ive manual civic reborn....i only used high-octane for my markx which is 12.0 compression
