Really nice 40, Dr Saab! Mabrook...alf mabrook!
If you already have a more comfortable off-roader, the 40 is an absolute pleasure to own! In addition to all of those points you mentioned, it's also absolutely iconic, will go anywhere, and will not burn a hole in your pocket if you treat it roughly. At the same time, though, with reference to it being inferior to the 60 and 80 Series TLCs...I would say that the latter you mentioned are far heavier than the 40, which makes them "feel" more solid, too...in the way they absorb bumps and rutted roads. Additionally, these vehicles are of much more recent vintage...and naturally, incorporate better/improved technology...which is proportionately more efficient and capable, of course.
Bear in mind though, Sir...when Icon (a high-tech, personalised rebuild company) decided to launch a series of customised vehicles (in the $100,000 range), the vehicle they chose to emulate was the FJ40. Toyota itself, decided to "resurrect" the FJ40 by launching the FJ Cruiser, with all its styling cues taken from the old warhorse. So you're very much driving a much-copied, much-followed automotive legend! Congratulations!
