When is Pak Vs Zim ?

The way things stand right now, It is highly probable that it will be India Vs. Pakistan in quarterfinal, as Pakistan is very likely to finish fourth in their group. They have to beat Australia to be higher than 4th, or in case NewZealand beat Srilanka then Srilanka will be fourth.

However For India to finish 1st in their group, they have to defeat South Africa.

So if things go according to the way most people expect... i.e. Australia beating Pak, Srilanka beating NewZealand, Zimbabwae losing from Pakistan, and India beating South Africa... then there's India vs. Pak in QF.

Also, in another quite probable case, if India lose to SA, and NZ beat SL, then still there will be India Vs. Pak in QF, as India would be 2nd in their group and Pak would be 3rd in their group.

So both these scenarios point to a repeat of 1996 QF showdown. And it would be very very devastating for Pak fans if Pakistan lose to India again, which is again highly probable given the way things stand.

Pakistan should hope to face either England or WI in QF.

I hope Australia continues their mind boggling winning streak and Ponting becomes the first man in the history of cricket to life the cup 3 times. What a feast would that be.

No in that case, Pak won't finish fourth (assuming the win from Zimbabwae). Getting even a point against the Aussie would be a big achievement and will ensure that Pakistan will be at least third in their group. In case Pak and Aus game would be washed away, then whoever loses the game between SriLanka and NZ, will finish fourth.

^England has played 5 games till now and have 5 points. Their next and final game in this round is against West Indies and if they loose in it then Bangladesh (currently with 4 points) will only need 1 win either against Netherlands or South Africa. So yes it is very likely
