Welcome back everyone. We are now on Day 6 of our trip to Bangkok.
Day 6
Last night we debated on where to go...Ayuthia or Pattaya. Both day trips could be easily managed if we either rented a car or caught a bus. The bus ride would be very economical but full of hassles. On the other hand, renting a car would cost us a minimum of bht 3500 for a return trip from our hotel. Both trips would be too tiring under the blazing sun.
When I got up this morning, the decision had been made. The ladies would use the budget of the road trip to spend on shopping at Platinum Mall. I had no say in this. With that behind us, we headed down for breakfast...well not the best of experience today. Jo soya, woh khoya aur hum nay, jo bacha hua tha, woh khaya...jo kuch zyada nahi tha. Shukar Alhamdolillah jo bhi milla woh rucchh kar khaya hum sub nay.
Tayaar, shayaar hokay, kapray, shaphray paa kay, line shine laga kay challey hum kushti pur, Asok say Pratunam. It's a very short ride and dekhtay he dekhtay hum Platinum Mall main they aur janaab daakhil hotay hi pehli dukaan pur dhaawa boll dya. Yeesib baht, yeesib baht...thukyaan yeesib baht (20 baht, 20 baht…everything for 20 baht)! Wish I could share the video I made.
It's 3pm and we have just sat down for a much needed 1 hour foot massage. This is the traditional Thai massage and the masseuse spent half an hour per foot. Maza aagya!
After that treat, we headed straight for the food court in search of halal food. Had desi and Thai varieties...had we known that KFC too was halal in this food court we would have gone for that. My better half noticed the staff wearing hijab and I walked over to reconfirm. Indeed, this was a halal KFC outlet.
We chilled in the foot court, had some coconut ice cream with real coconut shavings…enjoyed! Anyway, after a while we decided to go to Central World via the connected overhead walkway. We wanted to check out the fruit festival and sample some durian. We had noticed the activity when we went past that place on Mon i.e. day 2...there was some other activity going on there. Unfortunately, we missed the fruit festival. We then backtracked and went to Big C Centre, which is a very popular supermarket complex opposite Central World.
Indulged in some more shopping. Picked up plenty of preserved fruit of various kind such as mango, papaya, kiwifruit and durian etc. Farigh ho kar, samaan laad kar hum musafir niklay Chidlom BTS station ki taraf. Again via an overhead walkway that took us thru a building that had many upmarket eateries. By this time, the effects of the foot massage had started to wear off and the little or so distance to the BTS station seemed very far.
From Chidlom BTS station, we got a skytrain that took us to Asok and from there we hailed a taxi to take us to the hotel. We made one customary stop on the way…to pick up water bottles from the neighborhood 7Eleven.
Once back and settled in, I went up to the rooftop to capture some night shots of this beautiful city.
Karachi kub aisa ho ga?
