Since I own an online business where I have to frequently pay for hosting and services, I intensively use MCB Lite card and till now I haven't faced major issues with it except that the "held" money won't be released and MCB Lite only works for dollar & rupees transactions. With Euro and Pound it fails or at least it failed in my case when I tried to pay in Euro.
Now, coming to the point, what is this hold thing, let me explain it to you. Some eCommerce stores, web hosts and online merchants hold money equal to your purchase order for authorization or for security reaons and balance is deducted from your account which is later released (means reversed) once invoice has been issued in your name and money has been charged from your card. This leads to duplicate transactions. For example if you purchase 2000 rupees product, initially 2000 rupees will be held for authorization/security and later 2000 rupees will be charged again but that other 2000 rupees which was held for authorization/security before will be reversed. This held money once released should appear back in your account automatically. But all sarcastic praises to MCB, they have not developed any system to get that held money back. Even refunds are often not received in MCB Lite and you need to knock at the doors of MCB to get that money back after telling them all kinds of stories and filling forms.
So, what I am trying to explain is do not purchase from online stores and web hosts who claim to hold money for authorization. Your money will get stuck and you won't receive it. Even when you call their helpline, they will blame you for this while they themselves would have no idea what "held for authorisation" means or how it works. They will keep doing hanky panky until you get tired of their bullsh*t and hang the phone.
Even talking to their seniors or visiting bank won't be helpful because people working there won't have any idea what this thing is. They only know how to open new accounts, deposit money, clear checks, give you money and submit your bills. Other than that they are plain idiots and clueless when it comes to advance banking.
I wrote this long post to help other people who would stumble upon here after searching with Google for held money which they never received back after the hold was released. So be careful. This is based on my personal experience. I have already lost several thousand rupees due to this dysfunctional hold and release thing.
