Oyota Allion/Premio 2007 – Delayed shifting, heavy drive in mornings, gearbox noise

Hi everyone,
I drive a Toyota Allion/Premio 2007 and have been facing some transmission issues lately. A while back, whenever I put the car in reverse, it used to take about 1–2 seconds to actually engage. That delay has now increased, and I’m also noticing problems in drive mode.

In the mornings when I first start the car, it feels very heavy and barely moves unless I press the accelerator more than usual. After it warms up, it drives somewhat normally, but I still feel jerks and a sense of heaviness during regular driving. Along with that, there’s a strange electric/whirring noise which my mechanic says is coming from the gearbox.

I haven’t changed the gear oil in a long time. When I asked my mechanic about changing it, he warned me that it’s risky, says the gearbox might completely fail after an oil change and would then need replacement.

Has anyone experienced something similar with this model? Should I risk changing the gear oil at this stage, or is there another workaround? Also, if anyone can recommend a reliable mechanic for this type of job, that would be a huge help.

If someone wants to destroy your transmission specifically cvt then he can do it in no time and you will never know what really happened to it.
You can replace, just get it drained by opening drain nut. Measure total quantity and fill back same quantity by adding just 50ml more. The type of oil should only be the one which is written on filler port.
Buy 2 boxes and repeat the process 3 times after driving just few 100m after every change.

You don't need to open chamber so avoid it.

If it's a cvt transmission then drained quantity must be in between this range 1.8-2.4L when you open drain nut and leveler tube.

Mention your city. It's an old car now. CVT fluid change with FE Fluid and filter change. Filter change is important. Try to source cvt filter from PartsCentral over at Facebook.

and never bothered to change the CVT oil
roughly like 100,000 kms or more

its gradually dieing
CVT oil change at this point will be nail in the coffin
