For the record, I have sat inside both the new Shogun, in London earlier this year and the new Prado, also earlier this year in Dubai. My vote goes to the Mitsus interior. But to each his own, you are right in your own right to feel the Prado is better.

I will rest my case by saying that when it comes to price vs performance, you cannot have a better buy than a Pajero/Montero/Shogun. Period.

That being said, my next ride will either be a Prado 70 series or a Defender 90 with an upgraded engine. But only because I will not be able to afford an Evo and need a daily driver with hardcore offroad potential.

Best of luck in your Toyota. And pray your gas pedals don't stick to the floor Peace gents.

For a change my fellow pakwheelers... lets get out of corolla civic wars and put our views to finalise which of these (Prado or Pajero) is the best!!! As nowadays many are opting 4x4 SUVs ....

Why from 1986-1992 Pajero was the hot favorite and now the [highlight]Prado... I guess both are arch rivals if given chance to
tested against each other... which one do you pick???
keep all the factors in view -- the off roading capabilities... economy... luxury and accessories... price and maintainence and all round performance..

because there was no prado before 92, the only reason prado was made was to get back at mitsu in the local JDM category of mid size SUV

Now you are one hungry guy(of course it is Ramadan.....i can understand). You are right there by saying that I am a big fan and it is always difficult to convince the other guy but I guess with AGE, one learns a lot of things.... you, my young friend, have a long way to go before you can really appreciate my my point of view. For your info, I was there this July when I went to both Al- Futtaim and Al-Habtoor motors and the prices I've quoted are first hand and not off the net. Saw both the cars and and picked up the Pajero without a second thought! Secondly, SURF has a NO official exisistance in UAE, they promote the FORTUNNER instead. IF you have seen a surf in Dubai, it is a gray import! Thirdly, Pajeros are far more common than the prados in Dubai as most people tend to spend there money wisely(way too less corrupt ministers/govt officials there) ......so dear young friend, get some grays up there and maybe we can make this debate interesting;)!

I know it does work, It am not saying that it is a Honda Civic that it will break up into pieces, its just not as tough. BTW today while I was towing my blown up LC on Pajero, suddenly you came to my mind!!! amigo:P

How about we conclude it with the adage "its the man behind the wheel.."

Both vehicles are been there done that sort of affairs.. question is.. will you ever be able to take either of them to full potiential?

Having said that.. My personal experience with LCs has been better as far as longevity of the chassis and drivetrain in less than optimal environments ( read = harsh) with minimal maintenance..

Pajeros could be a better machine.. but I have had Land Cruisers since forever... in fact.. I have a LJ70 series parked right outside with 1.2 million kms on it.. which bears testimony to its mechanical integrity. I have owned a PZJ with same record.. ditto for the HZJ.. They take a licking n just keep ticking!

Given a choice.. I would buy a LC again and again.. not because a Mitsubishi is inferior.. but because I dont want to mess with success formula.. I could be missing out on something great.. but what the hell!

I am not as experienced as you nice gentlemen here.. but i have seen LCs in stranger places than I have seen Pajeros.. perhaps you have had different experiences.

Personal preferences, for some the other looks like a 'TOAD'(nice one there Rao) and to the other it is plain 'ugly'. The current pajero came in 2006 and this prado appeared in 2010.....5 years is plenty of time to catch up, ain't it?......I can agree to one sole fact what TOYota does best.... COPY!!! While Mitsu comes up with new technologies TOYota copies it to perfection 3-4 years down the lane! Mitsu's first car rolled off 1916 when TOYota wasn't even born(1917)....Mitsu was the first Diesel engine manufacturer in Japan in 1931,was the first to make a Japanese 4x4 in 1934... was the first manufacturer to provide a turbo diesel 4x4, was first to give an intercooled turbo version in a 4x4, was pioneer in introducing the revolutionary balance cam technology, was the first manufacturer with a continously variable transmission in a 4x4, introduced the triptronic GB in an auto 4x4, the first 4x4 variable valve timing(MIVEC...and beat the sh** out of every other manufacturer in Dakar a dozen times.....and which year did we see the first TOYota's VVTi???), the GDI( Gasoline direct injection)/DI-D(the forefather of TOYota's D4D).....the list goes on and on!Perfections are hard to come by while you are leading the way and trying to set standards! For the followers on the same path, I agree TOYota is the best, at COPYING!!!

@mitsuman dont teach other members that mitsu has done is history but now truth is that mitsubishi is no longer competitor to toyota .Toyota prado cant be compared to pajero bcoz of prices and surf can be compare with pajero but looks of pajero are so ugly ugly surf is also much better in looks.We all know that u r a mitsu fan dont start a fight now btw toyota and mitsu first honda and toyota .......I hope u will agree that surf is better than pajero

Have tested both the FJ80 and the 1993 Pajero. FJ is nothing compared to luxury but when it comes to offroading then Pajeros are nothing and BTW if one is not going to OFFroad, Drive on hilly terrain , Muddy areas then why buy any jeep in the first place.

why comparing FJ we re comparing the mighty prado vs pajero not Fj.FJ is totally different class ffor offroading only but prado offers comfort level,true offroading,reliablity,cheap costs mainteance and best resale value for money,lexury interior than pajero offers push start stop,ALl time 4wd system ,150 litres tank compared to pajero 88l,as per pajeros price its comparable to surf aur 4runner not prado.

One can discuss back and forth about which is better, the Toyota or the Mitsubishi. The best thing is to decide for yourself what you want to use it for, the people who will use it, what is your budget, local parts availability etc., then buy the vehicle that suits you and your needs.

word MIGHTY has been used so many times in this thread , that the moment i see a prado or LC , word mighty jumps in and makes me smile
i am not good at technical sides , but i love the handling and looks part of the pajero .
