I want to change to tyres on my pajero 85 from 235/70r15 to 315/75r17. Aside from the suspension lift that will be required are there any disadvantages in putting these tyres?

Your diff, axles and suspension will wear off quicker, and the engine will take a lot more load

Will there be any loss in power? Like if i travel north will i feel that the car is sluggish? Or not as powerful as before?

My dear esteemed Comrades!!! I have a rather silly question. Was actually doing some thinking for quite some time so I thought I should share in the forum for advice or forbidding me from doing what I have in mind.

Since January 2017, I have owned a 2006/2007 Hyundai Terracan (A brother of Pajero from another mother), which has a Toyota 5VZ under the hood. It was bought from Karachi in a shabby condition. I have spent a lot of money and time to bring it up to a condition whereby, if I get up one fine day and decide to go all the way to Babusar Top in one go, stay an hour there and come back all the way to Lahore non stop, I do not think twice or even check its fluid levels. I am so confident.

It drives like a charm, can go up to any speed in excess of 130 kmph on the motorway, unlike the previous SUVs I have owned which had a barrier of 110 kmph. It's appearance is very attractive, has the features of a modern vehicle like projection headlamps, climate control, OEM leather seats which are still in new condition as apparently all previous owners had protected the seats using seat covers and even floor carpet protected for me

I have done 5-6 rather extreme type of Northern areas tours in the last one and a half years since owning this vehicle and it has never let me down. It is extremely comfortable and fun to drive with ample amount of power.

But!!! I miss the Pajero Diesel The Terracan drives like a car and I have become bored of it as I use it as a daily drive.

I miss the roar of diesel turbo Suggestions, Comments welcome!!!

If I were you, I would wait till July end and then decide if a change of vehicle is feasible at this point or not. Which one are you targeting? Driven a MK3 has given me a lot of comfort as well as power at the same time, but my guess is that the 3rd Gen, 3.2l DiD would be one powerful vehicle to drive along with all the rings and bells of the modern era cabins. I know where you are coming from I have been approached by a couple of persons who want to use the vehicle for election campaign, which got me thinking on the lines to sell the Terracan now, wait till July end to let the dust settle.and then decide. A third Gen with 2.8 Diesel will be more workable, as a 3.2, no doubt a beast, is as fragile as a GDI.

You're right, this is a good time to sell, not buy. However, there will be 2 kinds of 4x4s available post elections. 1 that would be used extensively (read mauled) during election campaigns, and 2 which people take good care of.
First kind will be sold to get rid of, the 2nd kind will be offered at more or less similar/current price.

I, however, seek opinion on this scenario of giving up a trouble free, peaceful and rather easier to maintain Gasoline driven vehicle with a Diesel one. I have no problems or issues whatsoever with this except it being non diesel.

So what's the objective-to-change here? to feel the power? or your current vehicle doesn't give you that oomph?
Or it lacks the needed requirements? or you simply miss the sound of a diesel engine?
Over the years I've learnt that if a vehicle serves the purpose, it isn't wise to change it with something else.

You need to drive a good diesel SUV to get into my shoes. The problem is my Terracan drives like a car, diesel offers a certain feel which comes from enormous torque. I like the word "oomph", seems to be exactly what I am missing here

Yes it serves the purpose and at times exceeds expectations.

Dogar sahab, it all depends on your pocket, if you are willing to dish out close to 3 mil to buy a dewan import low mileage pearl white 2.8D, go ahead and sell your terracan, because otherwise, the vehicles below that will require work unless ofcourse you compromise on body/paint condition.
So sir, whats the budget in hand?

3 Mil is way out of budget. 2 Mil (including sale proceeds from Terracan) will be close to reality! Wish my Terracan came with the original 2.9 CRDi which is a decent motor.

best to keep the gen 3 out of the picture then. And a gen 2 after a terracan won't be fun either. In 2 mil, dewan 2.8 manual with 200k on the odo would be possible and those aren't worth it. Unless you are willing to buy a project car and rebuild it mechanically or electrically, i advice you to enjoy your terracan.
And if you still miss the diesel torque, how much cash would you have,minus the terracan, as for another on the side suv?

I am falling in love with my Terracan over again. Can't have two cars I think I should hold on to the Terracan after all. I don't mind doing a project though. This Terracan has been hell of a project itself.

Take a look at the classifieds and your prayers may have been answered. A good looking terraccan with the original engine and lots of spares is for sale for 16. You can look into it and sell your current one for that.
