This time I plan to build an off roader from scratch. It wouldn't have to be my daily drive as I have bought a sweet honda accord cm5 to take care of daily needs.

I have in mind an FJ40 or SJ410 long chassis.

Haven't placed an ad yet. Selling with a heavy heart and against the will of family, especially my 7 year old son. The last Khunjrab and Deosai trip made a lasting bond with the whole family

To be honest, the CM5 is a boring car. Haven't made a thread. Have bought it from a dear friend on a very complicated payment plan can share the price privately. It is a very well maintained car with about 100K on the odo. Drives and feels like a new car, much much better than the brand new civic. But boring compared to the SUV / 4x4 scene.

Yeah sure please share it on message I agree accord is a different league and 100k is nothing for a big engine its almost half life of engine that's it

Brave ideas with the kind of mechanics we have, but they shd be happy to see a Toyota/Suzuki.
Going no Paj, why not build a monster out of a Paj which will retain reasonable utility as well.

Social norms my friend. Every now and then you have the need for a 'presentable' ride. The FJ/SJ I am planning will be purely for my pleasure. A toy.

On a separate note, a friend offered to do a swap for me. A 2UZ in my Pajero! That was real scary.

I need for words from u guys. My SUV engine is in gud condition, but i dnt like diesel engine sound n vibration as my other vehicles r petrol. Pl guide shd i stick to this one or go for petrol and which engine is ideal. I m also a AT freak.

There was a lot of chopping and mincing involved, inside the vehicle and outside. Btw the guy has inserted V8s in a BMW 3 series and a Toyota Mark II Grande'

And what was he asking for a swap? N what about a mark x engine?
And has he got a triptronic active with a 4x4

To improve sound, do the following :
- valve clearance as per specifications
- have the IP calibrated
- pour LiquiMolly Ceratec

This should improve the sound considerably.

If you have to swap, go for a Mitsubishi 6G72 or 6G74. Nothing else

You remember the Pajero V8 thread (the atomic bomb). Putting in anything longer than a V type 6 banger is nuts. If one has a disposable vehicle. Sure! then anything is possible.
