a 4M40 is a treat to drive, gives superior average and longer life than any 1KZ etc, however the petrol version is also very nice, the quiet cabin and almost vibration free interior and cruise speeds add up to the charm, low end torque is obviously a bit less than a diesel but you hardly need it nowadays until you are going hardcore most of the year, Another thing I have noticed while travelling north is that the diesel quality is very poor and the petrol is really exactly same quality of what we find in the major cities. Most diesels start giving blue smoke. So my pick would be a Petrol as I have no plans to put it into extra deep water.
