I don't know. Heard people talking about OBD too much lately, so thought our wagonR would be enabled too. When we go to pak Suzuki, where do they plugin computers?

look under the dash or in the engine bay for obd port.

though i don't think the cheap scanners will work, only suzuki 3s has the scanner, otherwise, it costs lakhs, maybe a high end workshop

This happens when qualified engineers are umemployed and sefarshi/ratta baaz bharti is in service........it is hard to be a pakistani.

While stealerships already steal, if they don't use the ustaads and chotas and instead employ proper engineers, the service cost would be increased 3 times. No car assembler in Pakistan nor the majority of their customers would be willing to do that. This is secondary to the the calibre of most Pakistani 'engineers' coming out of universities these days.

I totally agree with the fact that pakistani engineers are incompetent. Esp from govt uni (they still get jobs though)

Engineer isn't supposed to do the dirty work,he is to supervise.

What pakistan needs is a course like ASE ( automobile service engineer).

Problem is, you can see the level of those diploma engineers that are already in the field, the people of our nation aren't going to let it work, they don't believe in hard work.

Partly because their parents didn't let them choose their profession and more because of ego problem.

Try to very politely explain something to a mechanic. They will make it a grudge.l, rather than take It positively

i am an electrical engineer from UET Peshawar and Glory be to Allah know much about my field. the thing is there is no training for engineers where they can practice things learned in theory ... just like doctors are given housejob

yes, sorry if i hurt your feelings, i am in a govt uni, and i absolutely hate the culture, jo teacher ney kaha hai, bas ratt lo, understanding bhaar mey, paper bhi ratta based, write miles long answers and make it rang baranga with marker, full marks. To the point answer, no b.s, anda

i totally agree with you bro. you have to learn yourself in our government engineering unis and if you learn you lose grades as teachers only recognize crammed things

Never heard about Amsoil bro. However i think they will be good. What is the price of 0w20? And if my car gets driven 16k KM in 2 years then what should i do? As i heard one should get oil changed after every 6 months.

Amsoil is one of the American greats, with the likes of Redline, Royal Purple, and Mobil. They also advertise 25k mile intervals on some of their oils (40k km) for normal (not severe) conditions; for severe conditions, they recommend 10-15k miles. These intervals are not pure marketing hype; people over at bobistheoilguy.com have actually verified them through UOA's (Used Oil Analysis).

BTW, modern oils should be changed at 1 year, not 6 months, if you don't hit the recommended interval in that time.

You are talking about government universities; here in GIKI, most people take shortcuts, cheating in quizzes, copying assignments, studying at the last minute, studying just to pass exams; they forget the contents of the course after a couple of semesters.

These people don't know jack when companies take their viva; they can't do actual work at the field. The competent ones; they go to foreign grad schools and work in multinationals. This leaves hardly any competitive engineers in Pakistan. Can't blame them, with the peanuts that Pakistani companies offer, in exchange for insane work loads. They can't even start their own companies, with the stagnant bureaucracy and the corrupt government.

This doesn't go just for GIKI; friends from other top private universities have similar reports.

i get you, but i was in fast nu for a few months , it was also like you describe, but PU was a whole new level, i almost had a nervous breakdown, never had seen such low standard of education in my entire life. I am trying to switch unis

If you think GIKI culture is bad, imagine it being 10 times worse, thats what i see here

Some also take their Civic on mineral Havoline 5w-20 to 16k km, with their UOA's even suggesting an 18k km interval.

The craziest I have seen is a Prius owner going 80k km on 2 oil changes; the UOA's came totally fine.

UOA's can change the perception of OCI's in Pakistan; the only problem is that people don't seem to be aware about them :(.

local oil companies like total and mobil have the facilities to perform UOA, but they usually only entertain industrial customers.

i heard if you run your car at higher rpms once in a week and oil change interval is correct you will never see your engine develop sludge..

Engineers from private universities (even those having top ranking) aren't any better. In majority cases, they can turn out to be worse in knowledge, professionalism and ethics.

Training requires to get hands dirty and to stick to one particular field/company for couple years starting with low salaries and increasing over time as one makes oneself more valuable for employer through work output. Most engineers just coming out of universities these days don't want that. They want cushy offices, high starting salaries with additional large amounts of perks for less/minimal work and job-hop at the slightest short-term benefit. There are very very few true gems in the riff raff coming out of Pakistani universities these days and many of those go abroad for greener pastures.
