Best engine oil for 30000 km driven wagon r??

I am using 0W-20, and it's driven more than 70,000km. I even did 18 hours long trips with the same engine oil. Not even a small amount of the oil got decreased nor does the vehicle's performance.

Nope. Engine oil selection doesnt depend on the ambient temperature but the engine design. Always use the preferred oil in owner`s manual.

my wagonr has been driven 52k on 0w20 Alhamdulillah. It is the recommended engine oil by manufacturer for the whole engine life

look at chart and you can choose wide variety of oils..... saying that it deesnt depend on ambient simply denying manufacturers manual.

look at the chart posted above as per temperatures...... its by manufacturer of vehile..no designed by someone himself

then the viscosity is mentioned which is suited for engine design as per clearance .... you can use 0w-20 or 5w-20 or 10w-30..

PS don't mention like that doesn't mean the universal thing changes... they simply write the working and supporting viscosity of oil as 90% of customers dont have understanding to chart as per temps

Sir these SAE temperature charts dont apply to the modern enginges that are water cooled. If that were the case, manufacturers would not be strcitly recomending thin oil as low as 0w16 in the hot weather of gulf countries specifically UAE. If you know, the engine operating tremperature is always beween 95-105 degree celcius so saying that the choice of engine oil depends on ambient temperature is plain wrong. It is the engine design that decides whcih oil viscosity is best for it

you need to revise your understandings about engines...

SAE temperature charts dont apply to the modern enginges that are water cooled

as per i know...since decades engines are water cooled not modern only and these charts are coming since decades also ... the chart is already designed as per suitable viscosity for engines..

API Ratings of oil are preferred but if you say that Siberia and pakistan had absolutely no difference with respect to viscosity as ambient dont matter than you need to check again sir.

it is design...the clearance factor but saying ambient had nothing to do with oil viscosity is incorrect

Talking about modern "water cooled" engines now so here modern engine recommend oil viscosity chart from manufacturers manual

Its from 2016 Toyota Highlander

and i still see temps mentioned along with recommended viscosity for engine....

pls be clear abt viscosity . its not a single recommendation ...there are multiple grades recommended and if you dont find one... you can always use 2nd but be sure to get as in desired temp range

I dont know how to make you understand or tell you but these charts are old and were rule of thumb followed for old engines. The car in question is Pak suzuki wagon R and if you have happened to check its owner`s manual, 0w20 covers all the temperature range from -ve something degree celcius to +40. It doesnt mean that if outside temperature reaches 50 degree celcius then you need thicker oil. Also thicker oil can cause over heating due to thick viscocity

Water cooled engines are coming since last 5 decades at least in Pakistan so what is the usage of printing SAE chart page in manual???

Why manufacturers are wasting time and ink and pages in printing this chart in manuals it if it is not relevant and Ambient Temperature has no role in oil grade and viscosity selection

i could make you understand that since its PAKSUZUKI and users are mostly ILLITERATE

they used EASIEST MEAN to write it DIRECTLY for people to make it easy how to read it...

Yes 0w-20 covers all temps but it also says you can also use 5w-30 and 10w-30 if you dont wanna spend on 0w-20 or wont find it... pather pe lakker nai ha bhai.... this is what confuse 95% people as they follow a single recommendation like anything w.o looking at actual facts(atleast for those who dont wanna go in details...good for them)

its owners choice what they wanna use.....so dont make it look like 0w-20 is only gonna work and on other grades...its just gonna fail...no it wont...as long as you follow owners manual.

Thats true....i also noticed the face of filter box uneven due to heat or design fault.

using silicon sealant or additional gasket is important.

Sir, you used Cementex here?

Is filter housing closing properly now or you are facing any difficulty?

Now it is properly sealed.
Applid Very small amount of regular grease on filter robber and on gaskit to slip and fit properly.
Time will tell its pros and cons.
Gaskit is around 2mm thick of soft sponge type material usually used in shoe sole.
Silicon may be used but at the time of next replacement you have to put it again.

FYI suzuki indomobile, and in other SEA countries have strictly mentioned the use of 0w16 in their owner manuals for the k10b engine (found in new cultus and wagon r) . Now dont say "they are colder regions" and what not. Even 0w16 is in use in middle east as well, which has much hotter climate compared to our country.

I dont had personal issues with 0w-20 .....
