62 youngsters arrested for one-wheeling
RAWALPINDI: The City Traffic Police (CTP) arrested 62 youngsters for one-wheeling, impounded 960 motorbikes having no documents or numberplates and ticketed 1,392 youths for rash driving and creating traffic hindrance on the Independence Day.
According to a press release issued on Saturday, the special anti-wheeling squad of CTP arrested 62 youngsters red-handed for one-wheeling on various roads including Benazir Bhutto Shaheed Road, Bank Road, The Mall, Airport Road, Rawal Road, Jhelum Road and Peshawar Road. It further stated that CTP had taken comprehensive steps to curb wheeling and rash driving in the city to save lives of youngsters and other road users on Independence Day.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Dr Akhtar Abbas said traffic wardens had also been deployed in Wah Cantonment, Gujar Khan, Kallar Syedian and Kahuta for smooth flow of traffic on Independence Day and facilitate the road users. He said the traffic wardens ticketed 1,392 motorcyclists for creating hindrance in traffic.
CTO said wheeling and rash driving was a social evil that claimed various lives every year. He urged parents, teachers and notable figures of the society to join hands with CTP to overcome this deadly activity.
