The Honda factory is really a state of the art unit, I am already a big Honda fan and now after seeing this all I am even bigger fan of Honda.
The factory is spread out on an area of 27 acres, they are enhancing the production capacity gradually. During the last year alone the total sales were more than 600,000 bikes, now that is impressive. At Honda, there is no compromise on quality, we were told that without the permission of Honda Japan not even a single screw or bolt can be added or removed. At the Sheikhupura unit they are preparing all the four models CD70, Pridor, Cg125 and Deluxe whereas at Karachi unit they only produce the CD70 and Karachi unit is also much smaller, 5 acres.
When I say a state of the art unit, I really mean it. The LPDC unit (Low Pressure Diecast Unit) an the paint job unit was an example of it, the whole work was going on in a very controlled environment to avoid all kinds of hazards, etc. The paint job area was separate and to avoid any chances of dust to get there they had sealed compartments and we only saw the spray and polishing job through the glass windows.
Honda does not allow pics to be taken inside the working units, as per the policy of Honda Japan so we respected that and took pics from outside only, which I shall share here.
As far the question of 150cc bike is concerned, I asked it to Mr. Shuja. The thing is, employees at Honda will never tell you anything about their future projects and when I asked the question of 150cc bike Mr. Shuja smiled and said it will not come in the next one year
However, he consoled us by telling that three to four new models are arriving within the next four year and at least one new model is arriving within a few months. Personally, I feel that the new model may well be a 150cc, but lets wait and see. He also told that Honda plans to prepare upto 250cc bikes locally, first they will bring the CBU (Completely Built Units) and then start their production locally, but this will take some time, not in near future.
