Personal experience & comparison of Wagon R VXL 2019 with Alto VXL AGS 2020

I feel the same, last time it died the alarm went on before it died, so maybe it's not keeping a charge.

But then I drove it factory and 10 mins later it died.

Later went to makro parked her atleast an hour. It started, parked her over night it started again. Can't figure out

I have called the battery guy. Maybe he is coming ina while. Let's see what does he diagnose.

Still no signs of low battery all day. Got car washed. Called the battery guy they came home in an hour.

Got the battery replaced just in case, the battery guy came home. They couldn't figure out anything except that the battery had aged 19 months.

Alto by no means, what so ever, is a competitor to Wagon R. The only thing it wins in is a lower price, rest Wagon R is a better Cars, Leaps ahead of Alto...

Alto AGS gives you a button or two extra but even the VXR variant of Wagon R is better than Alto. Alto is too fragile, just a three and a half or 4 seater while Wagon R is a four and a half or Five seater.

Basically the only reason Alto is selling these days is that its cheap. No one buys it because its a luxury car but it sells being the cheapest new car

In my opinion, calling Alto a car is an exaggerated statement. Alto is an Alto, not a car.

Wagon R has perfect suspension, excellent room ambience. Feels big on the inside and is reasonably comfortable for everyday use. I personally feel that Wagon R has the best AC amongst all the hatchbacks, even better than imported cars.

Alto has a pathetic AC. No luxury what so ever. Its like putting your money on fire.

You can easily find a used 15/16 model city in as much amount.

Being an owner of wagonR & test drove AGS Alto
ALTO
Pros:
Front seats are very comfortable + space is good
Rear seats having ample space even with taking front seats to maximum backward position
Fuel Avg
Features (ABS+Retractable+Airbags)

Cons:
Build quality is poor
AC performance is nowhere near to what WagonR offers
feels under-powered
That jerk is huge turnoff in AGS whatever u say about learn to drive AGS technology its still irritating
Engine noise is too much even at 60 70

Cons:
Fuel Avg is bad. 12-13.5 in summers / 14-14.5 in winters (60 km daily journey)
Seats are not comfortable at all
Brakes are bad it just skids / missed ABS a lot
Body-roll is there (its prominent with stock tyres)
Rear manual windows (no auto in top variant

Pros:
Build quality is much better even better than cultus
AC is just amazing comparable to even sedans
Pick is great you can always rely on it whenever u want to accelerate instantly
Suspension is good u don't feel much potholes while driving
Cabin is open and with height advantage its good feeling overall
outside noise is quite less in comparison to Alto

Yes that's probably because they have tweaked it for Pakistani environment, hence the annoying engine sound, better pickup. Interestingly the Japanese AGS Altos are quiter and shift a little better too.

All the basic variants, and all the variants without ecoidle And with triptronic transmission (+ - ) are AGS variants. Just that the japanese AGS version has a park option to.

As I have been buying and selling cars very frequently (for myself and close friends and family), I made a very tough checklist for checking out used cars. The checklist is so tough that finding a suitable car even takes months and sometimes years . And you can't waste months or even weeks searching a car that you will change in 2 years thus new cars with good resale is the solution.

The person to whom I sold my WagonR also didn't like the new Alto that's why in the same budget he purchased a one year old Wagon R.

Can't say, till now I feel that it is good but not some miracle. The car still needs to be washed using car shampoo on weekly basis.

Interesting thread. Can someone post a comparison between cvt and ags transmission of Alto PKDM and JDM? Actual driving experience would be helpful. I feel that cvt is smoother and gives better mileage.

I think the build quality of both Wagon R and Alto is same. It would be very helpful if you can elaborate how you analysed it.

Yes, WagonR's cabin is less noisy as compared to Alto, and the major difference is the irritating engine noise coming in the cabin.

Air-conditioning of Wagon R is very good and it enhanced further after I got Sungard Installed on all windows (including the Windscreen) , I recommend this if you plan to keep the vehicle for another year or two. For the Alto, I will only be able to comment after I use it in the extreme summers.

Brother my cousin has the CVT version of the Alto and I have driven it a few times. The CVT version for sure is smoother in the gear shifts, but with the passage of time I am getting used to the AGS and now I am able to get the gear shifted without jerks after the car crosses 2nd gear. By theory AGS should be more fuel economical as compared to the CVT, but the CVT vehicle comes with ENE Charge and is driven of Hi-Octane thus it gives better average.
