Suzuki Alto's petrol consumption is very bad. You have an alternative i.e CNG.
Drive it on CNG. This car is not worth driving on petrol.

i own a indus corolla 2000 which gives me 120 km/cylinder on regular karachi road and give aroung 150km+ on highway

and give around 13km/l petrol on regular roads

but the thing is is there any way i can make its milege better ??

my 1.8 prosmatec gives better fuel than my alto! But it compensates in CNG. Ive got around 240+ KMs in a tank many a times without AC on highways which is simply gr8 n damn economical. As some1 said drive it on CNG it aint worth being driven on petrol. Buy a vitz if u want to drive on petrol. The engine of alto is thagt of the potohar.as a jeep engine it has alot of torque.this is one of the reasons the car is over powered for its body.in japan the same alto is 660 cc n has auto tranny.

Alto is known for giving a horrible petrol avg, but its cng avg is pretty damn good.

i dont agree, my alto gives 20 km/L on highways with AC...never noticed local consumption as i drive mostly on CNG... always drive on low RPMs

Then your Alto must be made by NASA. It must be having something special in it !

Sir my PROSMATEC gives 11 in city and 13 on HWY with A/C, 9 when I floor the throttle to metal in "2".

My 07 VXR gives 12-14 in City and Highway, 120-140 km in a 55kg tank, without A/C.

@959 : sir i drive my car on low rpm always keep under 3 but still in city it gives me maximum 9.5 , i have 15inc alloys and 195/65 tyres , plz tell me what should i do

you are not getting good mileage because of your tappett and plug setting which are different for petrol and cng also if you are blocking the air cleaner's mouth then you are not giving your car recquired air to burn it. its ok (H)

i never get more than 11 km/ltr in alto ... in city driving ...
however my cultus giving more milage than alto ...

well alto uses a early 1980 obsolete technology carb based engine so the mileage u are getting on highway is okay considering within city it gives 8-9km/l. So its best to run alto on CNG.

My all brothers who own suzuki alto and worried about low mileage on petrol.I give you solution.I did it with my alto 2005 model.and now i am enjoying 15 km/l with ac 17 km/l without ac.i did it my own and i am not a mechanic i am a civil engineer and know much about mechanical.
1=Open carborator you will see two jets one is high speed.some alto has 150 number and some 170.company needs pick up of car not mileage because it is not their headache to fill petrol.Replace this jet with 100 or 105 japani jet.i used 100.
2=low speed jet is 92.2 replace it with 90 japani jet.if you need please tune up carborator because using cng it is not clean inside.i tuned up carborator just once when i changed jets.
3=do not use pso petrol.use caltex or total.always drive 70 to 80 km in 5th gear.always use light foot and change gear in reasonable speed.
4=i use havoline formula oil 10-30 and change it after 4000 km.always use guard oil filter with every oil change.keep air filter clean.use denso plugs 16 number.
5=I am sure you will see great difference and will not regret having alto.
6=If you get some good after doing as i shared my experience then remember me in your prayers.God bless you all.

have done all this with my Alto but not getting more than 10 or 11 km/l on local drives. Even on the GT Road the average is same

I have 2005 Alto 1000cc (Pak Suzuki One non JDM), with 13'' Alloys, 150000 km driven mostly on CNG but now since CNG has vanished i have to drive it on Petrol. It gives me real pain when it runs only 9-10 Km/liter with shifts on decently low RMP (@ 30000. *RPM installed) in city (Rwp/Isb)...at time i decided to sell it out. On last Sunday i get its carb setting with my mechanic ....it gives awsome result i.e. 13 km/l so far, still goin on and im expecting 14km/l. This milage is given on CURRENT Murree Road situation where i stuck up around 1 Hr.

this thing may sound weird but driving alto in low rpm is the reason of low mileage alto carb have very small dia of outlet of fuel to increase lower end torque (the more lower end torque more consumption lesser the top speed)

AOA brothers. Would lower value jets cause the car to jerk a little while accelerating? Since the fuel intake would be lower? Did anyone experience this?
