You laugh now (H) .....
But things are not looking good, with diesel subsidies gone and current price at PKR 70 and rising! On the slippery terrain of PKR vs US$ exchange rate, we have very little traction to negotiate the next oil price hike. As a result, we could easily be looking at PKR 100+ per litre by 2011!
On the other hand, domestic gas prices are generally more controlled and sheltered from the international market particularly in Pakistan. So until the Iran Pakistan pipeline gets built (probably be a long time) or we finally get our act together on LNG import terminals, I expect that CNG to petrol/diesel differential ratio to remain attractive.
As for future of CNG in Pakistan, we are A alaf aik one both in terms of cars on road and refueling stations on the IANGV site (rank by number) Natural Gas Vehicle Statistics .... and this number probably does not include the recent mass Hiace conversions!
Ab baat rahee: how is it relevant for a 4x4 off-road mean **** maniac like myself? It probably wouldn't have been if there were no videos of the supercharged Pinzguer (or whatever the Austrians callit'): See the videos.
