Oil costs roughly 8-10k max per 6 months.

Not this oil, where Peugeot/Lucky are the only one importing it so there is not even any competition. I studied the market for a relative and there are no official imports of that oil.

That is exactly why I wanted future owners to be aware of this BEFORE purchasing. It is a lot but there's enough people paying this amount in other cars throughout the year (probably to maintain warranty terms).

Give me a break. I have a Civic X as well and I've been maintaining it every 5000km since I got it and it's at 80k km now. Not once has my bill crossed 20k. In fact I have the bill for 75k maintenance in my hand right now. It's Rs. 12.5k and for the oil it's Rs. 8050.

See this is how it should be; but you've got a lot of people that are going every 3 months for an oil change because their warranty terms are dependent on it (I doubt any Civic X are still on warranty). Even then if the bills don't exceed 12.5k it would be 25k (2, 3 month services/5000km) vs 35k (6 month service/10000km). I can imagine their Sportage costing the same if they go to the showroom every 3 months

Well, 2008 is not Civic X. It is far superior car and far too delicate that requires extra care.

Yes, I do have a very short commute so I will take this into consideration when making my decision.

Regarding oil changes, I agree it does not take very long if you get it done from a petrol pump. I prefer to maintain vehicles from dealerships and in my experience with Toyota, it takes a good 2-3 hours to get an oil change done, even if you have an appointment.

The noisy AC fan does sound a bit annoying btw. Thank you for flagging that.

Thank you for this detailed response. I think I can justify the cost of the oil change, but the cost (and lack of availability) of spare parts makes me nervous. I still find myself so drawn to this car, just because of its looks, features and size. Unfortunately I cannot consider a bigger car right now, so my options seem to be limited.

The HVAC point is a bit concerning. I wonder if this has been improved in the new facelift launched a few days ago. I know the Puretech issue still remains unfortunately.

I agree with your point about the sunroof being a fairly useless (and at times unwanted feature) but the illogical part of my mind is insisting on it since it's kinda been a lifelong dream of mine to have.

I will probably go and look at the new 2008 and HR-V next week and make my final decision.
