although mine is a 1.8 diesel, naturally aspirated, and has done 170k kms being driven hard., it is still better than 80% of the junk available here...and gives a time to many brand new cars

are you reffering to the 4WS? the fact that they both nailed the (world champion) audi S1's? the fact that both cars ruled pikes peak? or the simple fact that these machines had massive amounts of downforce?

All of what you said is true (and I only got two out of those right - didn't know about the 4WS). No, actually both of them have the same chassis. Only a different body was draped on the 205 chassis to make a 405 coupé. There was even a Citroen ZX at one time with the same chassis.

^ahhh, you were being very technical (Y), yes i recall the ZX, but it wsan't as bonkers as the pugs so i lost interst in them very quickly., i wish they had made a 405 coupe it was a great looking car. i had the 205T16 model in both their racing colours (red, white & blue, and the camel car) as well as the 405T16 which i painted red.

LOL! i recall those DAF trucks, but i was more into the porsche 959 when it came to the paris-dakar championship. do note that the DAF had 500hp+ and infinite torque with 0% downforce (top speed 200km/h) and the 405T16 had less power, over 3500lbs of downforce (approx) and a theorhetical (drag limited) top speed of 190km/h in paris-dakar spec.

Actually, I think the Dafs had a total of a 1000 HPs as you see in this video. They finally went on to the 1500 BHP twin-engined monsters. But they were killed off soon afterwards after the crash of a Daf at the 1988 Dakar Rally in which a co-driver was killed I think.

nope, no translation needed, i studied in the french side of CH for a few years and still understand french to some degree.

i miss the 80's some of the maddest cars of all time were on the roads then.

do note one thing though, no matter how great the 205T16 was, i'd still go for an RS200E any day of the week, afterall how many cars can beat a mclaren F1 off the lights?:P:P:P

I know your soft spot for the RS200 and who can blame you. Looking around various videos for old group B cars, one thing is strikingly evident. All of them smash the 0-60 in under 3 seconds. The Delta Integrale, Quattro and the RS200. And the biggest challenge for these cars was that they had to be able to do it everyday, all day. As unlike tuner cars, they had to perform on the rally stage. Sure, some tuner evos can go down to 2.7 something for the 0-60. But it can only do it once every 10 times. The 9 other times, something breaks...

well said, the tuners of today need to learn alot baout reliability (another reason i supercharged my VR6's to 265-285hp instead of the mad twin turbo 400hp conversion).

i can only imagine if the "killer B's" were still alive today,... they'd have done something silly like a 2000hp citroen xsara picasso!

i bet you that soon an RS200 will be in some movie and after getting over the fact that it looks like an over-inflated 911, many pakwheelers will be praising it,.. i say good,.. ledgends should be remembered. afterall the metro 6R4 got immortality after donating it's engine to the XJ220.
