1- set your phone 'time', 'date' and 'time zone' settings to auto.

2- Try updating Play store and Google play services with aptoide or mobogenie. It fixed my issue of play store.

3- use aptoide or mobogenie instead of play store.

If these 1 and 2 does not work and you don't want to use 3, then root your phone using vroot (ioroot). Read instructions on Vroot main screen carefully.

Never tried it previously, but i used it today. It's very good. These are the best and easiest alternatives to play store.

Make sure you turn off the update notifications which are annoying at times.

how to boot into recovery? what button sequence to press?

i already have tried clearing the cache.. google play store, google play services. and through memory cleaner which automatically clears the entire cache

Lenovo recovery is assessed by pressing and holding volume up + power buttons simultaneously for few seconds with phone off.

Clear the cache and reboot. Watch a AV tutorial first on YouTube and be sure before continuing

well i cleared the cache again... an all of a sudden play store starts working by itself... problem solved apparently

It is better to charge phone for first time with power off and keep it charged for an extra hour or two even, after it shows 100%. It will optimize the battery.

Android kitkat is the one you used on your S5 before Lollipop update. Kitkat is released after jellybean.
