When the mark IV Supra came out, Toyota engineers went for a single exhaust system. Even though twin exhausts look cool, they added in that case 30 odd pounds.
Other weight saving measures? Hollow head bolts, hollow-fibre carpets, aluminium roof, hood and bumper supports, hollow anti-roll bars etc.
Why do the EVO X and STI have twin exhausts? I understand for a V8, but a four-banger? I may be wrong, but it seems like a case of form over function to me.
