I've never owned a brand new car, all cars above were bought used. I can't afford any of these cars brand new off the lot, nor can I justify the 25 percent depreciation as soon as you drive it off the lot.

Wow Sami, you added exactly what I left out with the reasoning...which is why I've found it tough to go beyond a Honda. I put Toyota's in the same category too.

I agree, although I should just add that as long as the car is petrol powered and non-turbo, this rule applies for the most part. I've found that turbos and turbo-diesels can be a mixed bag though.

Petrol turbos usually have been chipped and modified, and usually badly.

Turbo-diesels are used to do astronomically high mileages, and when something breaks, it costs an arm and a leg.

Of course you being in Canada, you probably wouldn't see too many TDs running around.

Actually, on the contrary, we have a lot of TD cars here in Canada. Everything is far apart here, you could go at highway speed for 100km/h from one end of the Greater Toronto Area and not be to the other end on the outskirts for 45 minutes to an hour with constant civilization in between. Also, second largest country in the world so it starts to make sense to get TD...especially when you have a long commute to work. (My boss travels 95 kms each way when he comes into the office). Also gas prices are higher in Canada than in the US, so people have been opting more and more for Diesel.

if you want to race on a track, I'm game....however if you're referring to the streets I grew out of that phase long LONG ago. Secondly, I don't do drag racing, if that was the case I would have bought a torque monster. If you're talking a track with curves, I'm in!

Hmm, I didn't know about that. Thanks for the info (y). Have you ever had any experience with TDs? I like them for their lazy torque and better fuel economy. They make excellent highway cruisers.

Hats off to you for being such a hardcore Honda Fan (Y).I must say Every one of your car is amazing.The TL Looks amazing in White with the body kit So does the TypeR and I am sure it Performed even better then it looks.The old school Red Teg looks amazingly simple considering that was the notorious Rice Era :P.It's always hard to forget your first car but the S2K is by far the best you have bought yet.Do get some Good Pictures if you can :).
Btw There is something i would like to ask about the EL.
Does the car really have an Edge over it's Honda counterpart.The so called "Luxury" thing or is it just a Civic underneath that Sober face?.

Yes, been in my bosses car and the torque that comes on as low as 2000 rpm is very tight! Definitely a great highway cruiser!

LOL so true, owning that red teg in the late 90s was totally riced out and it was acceptable back then LOL.
The EL is just a luxury version of the civic, its the exact same car with just different front and rear panels, an Si engine, power everything and a sunroof with leather interior.

The weather has been really crappy here raining everyday (at least not snowing) so I haven't been able to wash it to post proper pictures. Plus at work all day and today I parked the car right outside of my office window, pretty dirty and crappy pic but you can get an idea of the lowering by 1 inch all around with Tein Stech springs. The wheel gap previously was hideous for a sports car and now its much better. Also, the only other mod is an open stock airbox with a K&N Filter. Future mods will be an OEM front lip, side strakes, and deck lid spoiler (all from Honda and not aftermarket).

Side shot (my boy's on top of the world and wants to sit in it all day!) LOL

I'm happy that you'll "mod" your car with OE parts, and not aftermarket. Nothing kills a cars reliability like 3rd party parts that claim to increase performance.

Just a word on the filter though. Tests have shown that you don't actually gain much in changing to a K&N filter. It's better to remove the baffle in the intake while using the stock airfilter. Also, the stock filter is the best thing available to stop dust. The K&N thingy sacrifices filtering performance to increase airflow. Not a good thing IMHO

Thanks for answering my question about the EL:).

The S2K Looks amazing in the window picture the lower ride height will really help and the color looks even more awesome outdoors.I am guessing most of your colleagues will be Jealoused since most of them have to drive the sluggish Mini-Vans .Anyway The open air filter is a must for these Honda Motors to hear the proper grunt in high revs.Looking forward to the new additions and sunny weather so that we can see the car in it's full glory.

Btw your little Champ seems to be a Honda Fan too and I wouldn't blame him :P.I bet the day you bought the car home he must have said "COOL DAD".

kamran (kahmed) since to see you on here again! Insh'Allah we'll meet up when you're in Toronto ever. Was on a hiatus and got busy with other things for the last couple of years but my passion for cars has suddenly returned again LOL.

Sami_voodoo, thanks for the tip on the K&N Filter, will be mindful of the expense of dust for a gain in air...Canadian air is pretty dust free so I hope it won't be too much of an issue.

reddevil, you're right on removing baffles...I had an AEM Cold Air Intake with a K&N Filter on the Type R and wow such amazing sound.

Its an DSLR Nikon D40 which I bought a few years ago. Still works pretty well as you can see form the pics. Its probably the cheapest DSLR you can buy right now since its been out for 3 or more years.
