Bhai what's the group name? I never understand why everyone jumps into civic and now HRV groups to tell others are way better. Simply go into that thread and discuss the pros and cons. Many friends tried hard to blame civic blah blah, and failed miserably...same will happen in case of HRV. while i m not buying HRV, people who are here are potential buyers, so if someone doesn't like it, he can go into the respective thread and make the thread alive.

My point was entirely based on generation. I cannot call an obsolete Elantra competitor of a new car and sales proved the same. Now for HRV, sales and demand will prove the reality. Do ur research, the DOHC L15Z4 is a very capable engine, and it's not the old city BRV engine.the same engine runs very well in new BRV- 2nd gen (7 seater).

Someone who wants a quicker car has other options and can surely buy 2008. Enforcing in a particular thread is not a good idea. Why no one discusses and praises in 2008 thread and by that standard this thread should have been totally empty?

I remember, we both are salaried and salaried person cannot just spend on anything. U have to think 100 times. reliability of European cars is questionable across the global markets. HAVAL is nice but group here is a rickshaw group? whats the plan for backup? parts and after-sales.. Hyundai being such a huge group is hurting on basic warranty claims.

Everyone has a choice, but i believe discussion should be as per the thread name and purpose.It's a fan club after all, don't dis heart people who are buying as they will have last laugh eventually 3-4 years down the line

The current 1.5L engine is DOHC, newer one. It has reasonably good reviews in asian markets. Car alone is nothing, it's aftersales and backup that makes it a success.

And it's got that poor of a score with proper dealership network, proper warranty claim procedure and better quality fuel. Who knows how badly those cars will fare in pak. I'd personally take 2008 over hrv, but will definitely get it insured and would definitely change it after 50k Kms or 3 years, whichever comes first. European cars are rarely ever good enough for being long term cars, most westerners only buy them on lease and then change it as soon as the lease period is up or the warranty period is over.

There's a good reason why in all those western countries Hondas and Toyotas always retain their value much better. While we get pathetic cheaped out versions of Hondas and Toyotas, the expensive and sensitive mechanical and electrical parts are still imported and reliable, which is even more important in pak as most people really don't make much money and can't afford such expensive repairs.

very true that, but this nation doesn't deserve it, they only want stripped to death vehicles with any badge from the big three, i assure you even if hr-v had no airbags people would still defend and buy it.
i mean these people have begged for other companies to come here and now when they did take a bold chance, suddenly they aren't reliable. Ever seen anyone complain about Pegeout in Pak? nope, and the quality issues with honda's have been insane, civic x with the famous steering rack issue is straight forward death, but nobody talks about it cause it's honda, if it was a Chinese or any other brand people would bash it a lot or even take it to consumer court.
Thing is brother as they say jaise log wese hukmaran, same here, the big 3 know people's mind set, they know people will buy anything, this same dead nation kept buying the same honda city for generations happily, suzuki increases prices and sales increase lol.

Honda reliability? Remember the turbo issues with 2017 Civic turbo? Audi had no problem with same fuel with A4/A3 but Civic's engine went kaput.

How about the steering rack problem in the same civic?

or how about the windscreen cracking while being in sun in the same civic?

Honda has one of the most insane prices for OEM spare parts. Getting Taiwanese parts at lesser price does not mean parts are actually cheaper.

The vibration in 3 cylinders engine is because of how physics work, they are asynchronous in nature due to cylinder count being odd. Even cylinder count cancels out vibration patterns better because for every high frequency there is an opposite low frequency at same interval. That is why cylinder firing sequence is not from left to right, but alternate. That does not mean 3 cylinders are unreliable

Carbuyer.co.uk puts Sportage, Tuscon and 2008 above any Honda product except for CRV. You can read similar tests from other reliable technical experts.

The market in Pakistan doesn't work like this because of our own mentality. Is establishment forcing you to buy over-rated POS cars from Honda / Toyota or any other manufacturer? Got nothing against any manufacturer, but come on, open up your eyes and stop defending a product by saying dakkyanusi lines like market doesn't work like that. Change yourself, change the market.

No need to take it personally. You don't like reading my posts then don't, I am not defending any car / brand / manufacturer. I'm simply appalled by the mindset of people here who are defending overpriced and under equipped cars. Nobody here is saying they are gonna buy HRV because they "like" it. They are gonna buy it because it's Honda.

This is a public forum and unless I am in violation of any rules, you are a nobody to tell me what to do and what not do.

At that time in 2017, almost all turbo cars had issues..civic was no exception. People using hobc remained ok. Then guel quality issues was admitted and Pakistan moved to euro5 standard. Steering issue was global and was claimed in warranty..issues do happen....but hoe company supports is the thing. So far klm is so bad at claiming basic things so thats the fear.

U can see my past posts and i rate 2008 one of the best drive cars but what's the point of discussion in hrv fan club. U should be writing all this in 2008 thread. Fan club name is for a reason.

Japanese brands globally sells way better. There is no comparison. Koreans have given equally ripped of products hut 2008 is well features no denial at all. 3 cylinder vibration is a very bad experience to end user. Science aside its a inherited problem..could be a better word.

In biggest markets in the world no one does better than japanese in terms if reliability.

Go and check prices and honda toyota wins hands down in maintenance. Since u have 2008 , enjoy it..

Peugeots have one of the highest depreciation.

You can go and do a thorough search for reliability and depreciation data of Peugeot Vs honda, I am pretty sure you won't find a single source claiming Peugeot to be better. Yes you will find sources claiming Peugeots to be more fun to drive and better equipped, but no one will ever claim they're more reliable and retain value better than the Japanese.

Regarding local reliability, Peugeot is a new entrant so it's yet to be seen. On the other hand you can search through pakwheels how so many euro turbocharged cars suffered outright engine failures here, like x1, A3, etc. Turbo civics faced many issues but I've never heard of a full on engine failure.

You can also go through Kia forums and find out lucky motor's "exceptional" warranty service. But then every single company here including honda and Toyota have horrible warranty service, but warranty service is more important for these lesser reliable cars.

Also Kia dealers love to stack on multiple things in regular basic service on top of a simple oil change and then push you by threatening that warranty will be voided if those services aren't performed. Every single Sportage owner I know is tired of the insane maintenance costs from the dealers. 1 Sportage owner I know who has a E class as well claimed that even his mercedes maintenance costs aren't as high, might've been exaggerating there but still.
