Ok than but you will surely wish one thing after the trip ...that is diesel fuel benifits in that areas as compare to patrol variant ...be care ful in Filling Patrol at places and at most points u will not Find Patrol:(

Best Fill At Balakot (if going Via Babusar top/ naran)
Than Fill at Chilas
and than Jaglot
Fill after crossing astore
than fill at Skurdu.
Keep many Fuel Filters as spare with you in case ...u found a bad fuel as once i had to clean my Fuel tank of my Patrol vehicle at naran.

yes dear almost 20 -20 mins max drive from Raikot bridge ...there is also written properly about the ASTORE turning

I think only 20 Litre can is sufficiant. Whenever found a Filling station. Get full your vehicle tank.

There will be no problem regarding petrol as well as diesel. A lot of filling station of shell and PSO.

actually the fuel stations at these areas do not provide good quality fuel...and even they can cheat in no of litres...anyways best of luck dear...

Ok - so i'm letting go of the Minimarg area and thinking of choosing a day trip to Tarishing from PTDC Rama. Need suggestions though. Must I return to PTDC Rama after visiting Tarishing or can I continue my journey to Chilas for overnight stay (to save on time)? Alternatively, is there a good overnight accommodation at Tarshing?

Public transport (Large Land Cruisers - 18 passengers+1 or 2 goats or sheep and a few chickens) travel from Astore to Skardu (also from Gultari to Skardu) very early in the morning, it stops at Chilam but it is risky in case no one gets off at Chilam. Then they don't stop till the check-post at Skardu side at that end of Deosai. If you drop somewhere in Deosai they will charge full fare and the fare is high. In 2008, I paid Rs.300 from Kalapani (middle of Deosai) to Skardu, I think fare for Astore-Skardu was 600 or 650. If they don't have enough passengers they can postpone the trip for the next day. In my opinion you should try to join another group and hire a pickup, 10 or 12 people can travel on a pickup and you can stop at four or five usual points in Deosai.

Edit: The Land Cruisers don't leave from usual bus stand, they leave from their owner's shop or place of business, you will have to find it and book seats the previous evening. I have noticed that local people discourage tourists travelling on public transport and don't tell the location of these places easily. An owner may have only one vehicle so they travel on alternating days, one day Astore-Skardu and the next day Skardu-Astore.

yep you are right. but this is what we have to accomodate with the available resources. I have filled from Chilas, Gilgit and Skardu in Jun during an official trip. no problem. dont know what I will get from Astore. Must have to fill tank as this will be last settlement.
