Planing a trip to murree and northern area need valuable advices

Can I will find jeep from shogran or it is better to hire jeep from kewai or Naran? I want visit siri payi and stay at shogran if adviseable.

People park their cars on the road in kewai and hire the jeep to shogran or siri pay. so most of the jeeps in shogran are already reserved and for the rest there are a lot of people competing for it so I would suggest leaving your car in the parking area in kewai and hire a jeep all the way to siri pay and when you want to return your jeep will be there waiting for you.

Our actual tour was of Neelum Valley AJK, but just two days before departure we changed our plan and decided to visit Gilgit Baltsitan, Nevertheless we didn't visit baltistan division, but INSHALLAH will soon go there in the upcoming summer. In this tour we visited Gilgit, Hunza Kareemabad upto Khunjerab Pass...It was not so much lengthy but we had alot of fun and adventure. So enjoyed alot.... Sorry for uploading it late...

Since Rawalpindi is my hometown so I am not very familiar with hotels or guest houses in the area. But there are quite a few hotels and guest houses in Islamabad/Rawalpindi where you can stay.

As for places to see there are many. Dinner at Monal is must, Lake View Park over looking Rawal Lake, zoo/ dinosaur park, Faisal Masjid, Shakar Parian, Lok Virsa Museam, Museum of Natural History, Saidpur Village food area. In addition if you can spare one day then you can visit Taxila and Khanpur Dam. Both are on same route. Your trip should be full if you can do all this in Islamabad after visiting Naran.

After Lodhran, you should take lodhran-multan-kabirwala-shorkot-jhang-gojra...after gojra you will be on motorway..gojra-faisalabad-pindibhatian and then islamabad...This is the best route...Never take lodhran khanewal expressway, bcz it is in a pretty bad shape and full of heavy trucks trolleys etc..Otherwise you will get into truck racing

You should start your journey early in the morning as in summer you can easily start journey at 05:00 am...You should stop for night in Multan...Easily...

Road condition to shogran isn't any good...but if you are not planning to go further to Siri paye(as that route is jeepable), so then you must take your ride to shogran,,,you can...its no problem,,,,

If you are planning to stay in PTDC motels, then you must book it in advance...In Naran i will recommend you to stay in PTDC hutts as you are taking your family with you, so its a very decent place full of tranquility....But for Hunza, dont stay in PTDC because its in Aliabad, and you should stay in Karimabad..There are dozens of hotels in karimabad and you can book a decent room there in a good hotel easily...Depend upon your bargaining skills

In Islamabad there are so many Guest houses, you can easily book one at the spot,,,In Nathia gali i will recommend you Afaq hotel located right on main road, and price depend upon time and flow of tourists,,you can book a room between 3000-6000/night there..
In Naran Ptdc hutts are a bit expensive and you can see their prices on ther site,,from 8000-25000/night...In hunza karimabad Mulbery is a good one not so expensive like Darbar etc, and there is another one but sorry i forgot its name..In murre there are tons of hotels you can book easily a neat and clean one in a very good rate,,
As for multan i haven't stayed in multan for night, just visited..

6- What stuff should I keep in car for emergency like tool, medicene, food ....etc.
You should drink mineral water all the way in these areas ESPECIALLY in MURREE,,,,dont take a chance to drink tap water or other provided in hotels, as you are taking kids and family with you....For KKH keep biscuits and juices with you because land slide can block the road anytime and it can be in the middle of nowhere for hours...
For car, fully check your car prior to your visit, and change oils...

7- what place inroute should I visit?
If you have time you should visit Bahawalpur city enroute, visit the palaces there..and mausoleums in Multan...and while you will be staying in islamabad for a night, so do visit monal there in margalla hills,,,,,For murree there are very limited places, except patriata, kashmir point and mall road, there is nothing...Visit ayubia while going to nathia gali, nathia gali is a little boring, ayubia is a good place to visit...While after Naran stay for some pix...lulusar lake, and pyala lake are on the way...

After babusar top it comes chilas, so its a very Hot place, keep your car AC Perfect and take water and drinks with you..Take enough sleep before visiting, as you are the only driver and it will take upto 13 hours to reach Karimabad...Start your journey early at about 8:00 am from naran,,,,

Trip with family to to murree, Naran and hunza.
I am planning a trip in last week of June-17 (after Ramdan) with my family from Karachi to muree and onwards to Naran Hunza etc... it will be a 15~18 days tour. I will accompany my wife, 3 childern of 14,13 and 8 years repectively and a sweet baby of 3 years. My ride will be Suzuki swift-2012.

Need good valuble advices regarding road travel route, places to stay and visit, food and hotling from pakwheeler to plan and finalize my trip.

Your comment will help me to plan my tour in better way.

Route is now clear. I will stay night at multan and next morning will drive trough Jhang bypass to aproach M4.
I also want to visit siripaye along with shogran. what you will suggest should I stay one night at shogran or park my vhicle at kewai and manage it in route to Naran in day time?

There are small restaurants on the bank of Khanpur Dam and you can hire a boat and go for boat ride. It's a very scenic spot and worth visiting.

If your Plan is to visit northern areas Hunza etc then you should just visit shogran for a couple of hours while en route to naran and night stay in naran..
and if you have plenty of time so then you can visit siri paye, for that you have to stay for two nights in shogran...because you will reach shogran in the evening so will approach towards siri paye on the next day, and will then come back in the evening, though you can reach naran, but as you said you dont want to drive after dusk,,,so shogran will demand two nights from you...
PS..And in both cases either you briefly visit siri paye and shogran or just visit en route naran, you must take your car to shogran....after shogran you can hire jeep for siri paye...

Dear Mohim,

You are going in Rush season, as 27 June or 28 June shall be Eid, so you are basically going on Eid holidays means, everything shall be fully loaded, hotels shall be expensive, roads shall be populated with vehicles, road blocks and traffic jam is normal, i would not suggest you to go during that days on your own vehicles but if you are really indeed interested in that time zone. Then do following. you can see some tour plans on this website

Start from Karachi

Day 01: Karachi to Multan in 10 Hours time , stay in Hotel One or Paradise Hotel
Day 02: Multan to Islamabad via National highay till Gojra, Gojra to Islmabad on Motorway, 10 Hours Driver stay in Rawalpindi in Royalton Hotel
Day 03: Rest Day in Islamabad, sightseeing Islamabad , move towards Murree only one drive stay in Arcadian Murree
Day 04: Visit Patriata Hills, Mall Road, stay in Hotel in Arcadian,
Day 05: Visit Nathiagali, Aybuia stay in Nathiagali, Hotel Elite or Green Retreat

You should start your journey early in the morning as in summer you can easily start journey at 05:00 am...You should stop for night in Multan...Easily...

3- How is the raod condition to shogran? Is it advisable to go to shogran in swift?
Road condition to shogran isn't any good...but if you are not planning to go further to Siri paye(as that route is jeepable), so then you must take your ride to shogran,,,you can...its no problem,,,,

4- Should I book all hotels,residence in advance? **
If you are planning to stay in PTDC motels, then you must book it in advance...In Naran i will recommend you to stay in PTDC hutts as you are taking your family with you, so its a very decent place full of tranquility....But for Hunza, dont stay in PTDC because its in Aliabad, and you should stay in Karimabad..There are dozens of hotels in karimabad and you can book a decent room there in a good hotel easily...Depend upon your bargaining skills ">" class="emoji" alt=" ">" class="emoji" alt=" " class="emoji" alt=" ">">">

5- Require information regarding good budget hotels, Neat and clean.**
In Islamabad there are so many Guest houses, you can easily book one at the spot,,,In Nathia gali i will recommend you Afaq hotel located right on main road, and price depend upon time and flow of tourists,,you can book a room between 3000-6000/night there..
In Naran Ptdc hutts are a bit expensive and you can see their prices on ther site,,from 8000-25000/night...In hunza karimabad Mulbery is a good one not so expensive like Darbar etc, and there is another one but sorry i forgot its name..In murre there are tons of hotels you can book easily a neat and clean one in a very good rate,,
As for multan i haven't stayed in multan for night, just visited..

6- What stuff should I keep in car for emergency like tool, medicene, food ....etc.
You should drink mineral water all the way in these areas ESPECIALLY in MURREE,,,,dont take a chance to drink tap water or other provided in hotels, as you are taking kids and family with you....For KKH keep biscuits and juices with you because land slide can block the road anytime and it can be in the middle of nowhere for hours...
For car, fully check your car prior to your visit, and change oils...

7- what place inroute should I visit?
If you have time you should visit Bahawalpur city enroute, visit the palaces there..and mausoleums in Multan...and while you will be staying in islamabad for a night, so do visit monal there in margalla hills,,,,,For murree there are very limited places, except patriata, kashmir point and mall road, there is nothing...Visit ayubia while going to nathia gali, nathia gali is a little boring, ayubia is a good place to visit...While after Naran stay for some pix...lulusar lake, and pyala lake are on the way...

All recemendation will be highly appreciated.

After babusar top it comes chilas, so its a very Hot place, keep your car AC Perfect and take water and drinks with you..Take enough sleep before visiting, as you are the only driver and it will take upto 13 hours to reach Karimabad...Start your journey early at about 8:00 am from naran,,,,

If your Plan is to visit northern areas Hunza etc then you should just visit shogran for a couple of hours while en route to naran and night stay in naran..
and if you have plenty of time so then you can visit siri paye, for that you have to stay for two nights in shogran...because you will reach shogran in the evening so will approach towards siri paye on the next day, and will then come back in the evening, though you can reach naran, but as you said you dont want to drive after dusk,,,so shogran will demand two nights from you...
PS..And in both cases either you briefly visit siri paye and shogran or just visit en route naran, you must take your car to shogran....after shogran you can hire jeep for siri paye...

Now I have plan to go upto Babusar top, as per most of threads KKH road condition is not good from chilas to raikot bridge. Actually I wish to visit Khunjrab pass (PAK China border) but If road is bad than I wn't take risk to stuck some where with my family.

You are going in Rush season, as 27 June or 28 June shall be Eid, so you are basically going on Eid holidays means, everything shall be fully loaded, hotels shall be expensive, roads shall be populated with vehicles, road blocks and traffic jam is normal, i would not suggest you to go during that days on your own vehicles but if you are really indeed interested in that time zone. Dear brother..Yes you will easily find a jeep in shogran for siripaye...
and if you want to visit khunjerab, i will say you must visit it...there is only 50 km distance from chilas to raikot bridge and in that 50 km bad patches are almost 25 to 30 km...and after raikot bridge there is an awesome road..so as for my opinion you should visit khunjerab as beauty has an address ...
You have to plan your tour before or after Barsat(Moon soon) season,,,better is that you visit in August, Check forecast on internet and plan your trip on a shinny day...INSHALLAH ALLAH khair kry ga..

You should start your journey early in the morning as in summer you can easily start journey at 05:00 am...You should stop for night in Multan...Easily...

Road condition to shogran isn't any good...but if you are not planning to go further to Siri paye(as that route is jeepable), so then you must take your ride to shogran,,,you can...its no problem,,,,

If you are planning to stay in PTDC motels, then you must book it in advance...In Naran i will recommend you to stay in PTDC hutts as you are taking your family with you, so its a very decent place full of tranquility....But for Hunza, dont stay in PTDC because its in Aliabad, and you should stay in Karimabad..There are dozens of hotels in karimabad and you can book a decent room there in a good hotel easily...Depend upon your bargaining skills ">" class="emoji" alt="

5- Require information regarding good budget hotels, Neat and clean.**
In Islamabad there are so many Guest houses, you can easily book one at the spot,,,In Nathia gali i will recommend you Afaq hotel located right on main road, and price depend upon time and flow of tourists,,you can book a room between 3000-6000/night there..
In Naran Ptdc hutts are a bit expensive and you can see their prices on ther site,,from 8000-25000/night...In hunza karimabad Mulbery is a good one not so expensive like Darbar etc, and there is another one but sorry i forgot its name..In murre there are tons of hotels you can book easily a neat and clean one in a very good rate,,
As for multan i haven't stayed in multan for night, just visited..

6- What stuff should I keep in car for emergency like tool, medicene, food ....etc.
You should drink mineral water all the way in these areas ESPECIALLY in MURREE,,,,dont take a chance to drink tap water or other provided in hotels, as you are taking kids and family with you....For KKH keep biscuits and juices with you because land slide can block the road anytime and it can be in the middle of nowhere for hours...
For car, fully check your car prior to your visit, and change oils...

7- what place inroute should I visit?
If you have time you should visit Bahawalpur city enroute, visit the palaces there..and mausoleums in Multan...and while you will be staying in islamabad for a night, so do visit monal there in margalla hills,,,,,For murree there are very limited places, except patriata, kashmir point and mall road, there is nothing...Visit ayubia while going to nathia gali, nathia gali is a little boring, ayubia is a good place to visit...While after Naran stay for some pix...lulusar lake, and pyala lake are on the way...

All recemendation will be highly appreciated.

After babusar top it comes chilas, so its a very Hot place, keep your car AC Perfect and take water and drinks with you..Take enough sleep before visiting, as you are the only driver and it will take upto 13 hours to reach Karimabad...Start your journey early at about 8:00 am from naran,,,,

Route is now clear. I will stay night at multan and next morning will drive trough Jhang bypass to aproach M4.
I also want to visit siripaye along with shogran. what you will suggest should I stay one night at shogran or park my vhicle at kewai and manage it in route to Naran in day time?

If your Plan is to visit northern areas Hunza etc then you should just visit shogran for a couple of hours while en route to naran and night stay in naran..
and if you have plenty of time so then you can visit siri paye, for that you have to stay for two nights in shogran...because you will reach shogran in the evening so will approach towards siri paye on the next day, and will then come back in the evening, though you can reach naran, but as you said you dont want to drive after dusk,,,so shogran will demand two nights from you...
PS..And in both cases either you briefly visit siri paye and shogran or just visit en route naran, you must take your car to shogran....after shogran you can hire jeep for siri paye...

Now I have plan to go upto Babusar top, as per most of threads KKH road condition is not good from chilas to raikot bridge. Actually I wish to visit Khunjrab pass (PAK China border) but If road is bad than I wn't take risk to stuck some where with my family.

Dear brother..Yes you will easily find a jeep in shogran for siripaye...
and if you want to visit khunjerab, i will say you must visit it...there is only 50 km distance from chilas to raikot bridge and in that 50 km bad patches are almost 25 to 30 km...and after raikot bridge there is an awesome road..so as for my opinion you should visit khunjerab as beauty has an address ...
You have to plan your tour before or after Barsat(Moon soon) season,,,better is that you visit in August, Check forecast on internet and plan your trip on a shinny day...INSHALLAH ALLAH khair kry ga..

Our actual tour was of Neelum Valley AJK, but just two days before departure we changed our plan and decided to visit Gilgit Baltsitan, Nevertheless we didn't visit baltistan division, but INSHALLAH will soon go there in the upcoming summer. In this tour we visited Gilgit, Hunza Kareemabad upto Khunjerab Pass...It was not so much lengthy but we had alot of fun and adventure. So enjoyed alot.... Sorry for uploading it late...

Thanks for reply, I already read your trip, KKH pictures of tata pani area showing no sign of road and area has too much danger of landsliding. hopefully I will be there in first week of July, Trip upto babusar pass is confirm. if weather condition permits me I will try to go to Khunjerab. I will collect latest information before travel to hunza.

Hopefully I will start my journey from Karachi after Eid holidays in end of June or first week of july.

As I have not visited these areas except murree, adjacent galyat and muzafarabad some 16 years ago. Never travel by road to islamabad, Always travel by air. First time i will be travelling out of sindh by road in my car therefore I have few question in mind all pakwheelers ar invited to comment. This will help me to travel safe.
1- From karachi till Lohdran travel route is clear, After Lohdran which route should I drive till islamabad?
After Lodhran, you should take lodhran-multan-kabirwala-shorkot-jhang-gojra...after gojra you will be on motorway..gojra-faisalabad-pindibhatian and then islamabad...This is the best route...Never take lodhran khanewal expressway, bcz it is in a pretty bad shape and full of heavy trucks trolleys etc..Otherwise you will get into truck racing <img

میرے بھائی انشاء اللہ کوئی مسئلہ نہیں ہو گا بس آپ کی گاڑی فٹ ہونی چاہیئے۔ یہ چلاس سے 30 سے 35 کلومیٹر کا ایریا ٹھیک ہے کوئی مسئلہ نہیں۔ صرف چند کلومیٹر کا ایریا کچا راستہ ہے۔ آپ اس کو ایسا سمجھ لیں جیسے گاؤں کے کچے راستے ہوتے ہیں اونچے نیچے۔ کار آ سانی سے گزر سکتی ہے۔ لیکن احتیاط کریں کہ اس علاقے سے دن میں گزریں تاکہ بصارت میں مسئلہ نہ ہو۔میں بھی پہلی بار گیا تو پریشان تھا لیکن دن میں دوبارہ وہاں سے گزرا تو کوئی مسئلہ محسوس نہیں کیا۔اس علاقے سے ہی گلگت بلتستان کی ساری ٹریفک گزرتی ہے۔ جن میں بڑے ٹرک بھی ہوتے ہیں۔
