both are different engines but
idsi is fuel efficent as compared to ivtec but ivtec is more powerful
now only ivtec is avilable in 1.3l and 1.5l for city and 1.8 for civic

Adding to above mentioned differences
Idsi stands for intelligence dual and sequential ignition. This means that this particular model has 8 spark plugs, normally 4 plugs are used. 8 spark plugs are used for igniting the fuel twice for better fuel economy.
Vario uses cvt transmission technology. Cvt stands for continously variable transmission, short term Vario. Now the new city does not have cvt, it uses prosmetic technology. Advantage of cvt is jerk free ride ie jerk free transmission. Negative side is that this technology is incompatible with cng.
Do not know anything about prosmetic technology, but cng can be used with this type of transmission.

please dont buy Vario, i have personal experience and Honda people also say that its a flop auto trany and thats why they replaced it with prosmatic.

thnx typeN, i did go for i-vtec. but due to other preferences, i went for prosmatec.... (2nd hand)

please don't misguide people. many people are using vario with petrol and its trouble free . Use cng with any cvt be it lancer or Nissan tidda it will burn now are they also flop?

ss_rebel i suggest u to go for i-vtec manual the newer the better.

I had a search span of 2 months on civic, cudnt find any cleaner in my budget, plus had some research abt maintenance, fuel cost and re-sale (in future) .... those all things pushed me to go for City, with newer model that what I was settling for Civic's....

No doubt Civic is comforter than City.... But the 1st thing is choice, drive both 05-07 city and 05 civic. Rest, the experts here might able to help more ....

I am also planning to buy a honda in price tag of 9lakh to 10Lkh. Please suggest which is a better option em looking for a comfort, luxury drive. Which one in better to buy honda city 2005 to 2007 model or honda civic 2005 exi prosmatec or vti prosmatec. I am interested in buying automatic transmission. also any of the lovers cn advise me to check which important things in buying honda of this model.

Please guide good honda 3s dealerships as well.

originally i was going for full option (Navigation system, Alloy rims, leather seats) but as the car was clean & condition was surprisingly good, i left the Nav. & Alloy rims on later addition on my own....

got it for Rs.1.42 mil.

once i get the check & clean up done, i'll confirm the mileage.

i heard one on odo shud not be considered valid. as now, its showing 9.8-10 .... which i believe is not good + perfect....?
