First It is clear from above statistics that Swift has 41% growth over last year :).
Now you are trying to say that it is due to DX, just tell me one thing when you say that toyota has the highest sales in pakistan do you say that it is due to XLI otherwise the sales of GLI are very less? Whether it is XLI or GLI it is corolla, we take all variants into account(Sales of GLI will be like 10% of XLI). Same is the case with City you don't differentiate between auto and manual. So your point is invalid, all over the world almost all cars have 2-3 variants. In india swift has 6 variants(3 each in petrol and diesel) and when you count the sales you take into account every variant.
Now coming to your point about poor sales in 2nd half. My personal opinion in this regard is below were the factors which resulted in this:
- Suzuki must have launched the car in 2 to 3 variants from start with price difference of atleast 1.5-2 lac between top most and lowest. In india difference between top model of swift and lowest is 2.5 LAC(in PKR). Higher cost in hatchback prevented most customers from buying and people had the thought " why not buy a used city or corolla in same price".
From suzuki perspective why they didn't launch it, i think they thought that first make best quality car with best features, when it develops good repute then launch lower variant which they did.
2.Non availability of FF CNG version was another major factor. All other suzuki cars have FF CNG and problems in Liana with CNG also created the impression that swift will have problems so many potential buyers refrained. If you look at other suzuki cars about 95% of sales are of cars with FF CNG.
When we look from suzuki perspective i think why they didn't launch CNG version was due to Liana bad reputation due to sequential CNG mishandling by people and their workshops and resulting bad repute which eventually resulted in poor sales of liana.Afraid of that they have still not launched in FF CNG but it resulted in lower sales than expected.
- M13A syndrome: Poors sales of liana have been attributed(wrongly) by general public perception to M13A. When same engine was launched in swift, many people were cautious and refrained from buying. Truth is there is no issue with the engine, same engine is swift is used worldwide in swift except india and it is a big hit.
Now when most the above issues are cleared, swift sales are on the rise. There is no issue in swift reported.I own a swift, done 34000 kms and not spent a penny on any issue.Simply an amazing car.
