@butwhy It's mentioned in my post - I'm from Karachi.
Tell me about it @bilalicious! These jokers are sneaky little weasels, aren't they? Mess up a perfectly good AC and then it will give you trouble every few weeks. It must be getting really hot for you Rawalpindi folks - over 40 deg C, yes? It hasn't touched 40 here as yet, but very humid, as always.
Well, here's hoping you and I both come across a guy who will just have enough of a conscience to do the job properly. Split ACs are designed to work flawlessly even after more than 10 years of use. Even if you keep them off for a year or two, they will perform exactly the same as they did the last time, as long as the filters and condenser are kept clean from time to time, not to mention the room itself.
Sometimes, these jokers try to push stuff down your throat like: "Oh, you should throw away your AC after 2-3 years. It is useless", or "If you keep it off for a few months, gas leaks."
BULL!
If I only could, I would grab a welding plant myself to seal up leaks, along with a gas cylinder, UV Dye for leak testing and compressor for vacuum, and fix it properly once and for all. Unfortunately, we have to rely on these turds, but there are a few good ones out there I'm sure. Just can't seem to find any at the moment.
