Please suggest: Honda City 2003/04 iDSI or Cultus EFI 2007/08

My only concern with City is that it will likely be a 2003/04 model. It's almost 2014, so it will be almost 10 to 11 years old. Where as Cultus would be 2007/08, which 5 to 6 years old. Older the car, the worse it's mechanical state is likely to be. I have no experience of maintaining a car so it can be a huge headache for me. Also resale of a 10 to 11 year old car will likely be worse than a 5 to 6 year old car. I want to keep it for 2 to 3 years or so too and a 10 to 11 year old car doesn't seem good for keeping for 2 to 3 years. What do you think?

This concept that older car will be more vulnerable to maintenance in not hundred percent correct..it all depends on make / model of the car and the way one has maintained it, me n my friend bought cars in da same mnth two years back, i bought 96 Accord n he bought 2005 cultus, after 2 years i have driven 41000 km and spent 16000/- on maintenance, while he has used the car for only 18000 km and spent 44000/- so far..suzuki, whatever the model is needs more maintenance then any other car of the same model...this is for sure.

condition matters as for cultus no offence but every1 knw the built quality of pak suzuki ul end up payin frequent visits 2 mechanics & forget abt comfort in cultus, City will b fi9 for more than 2-3 years if properly maintained & u wont be willing to sell it after that

everybody here is going against cultus but hear this out.my friend bought 0 meter cultus in 2009..since then,the car is totally used for about 1 lac and 13k kms till date on cng mostly..only maintenance he had is oil change and normal tuning and some suspension work..car has a perfect AC and its on all the time,either morning or evening in summer.. oil change is done on every 5k kms where some people here say 3k is best which in my opinion is too early,5k is okay..car still is with him and no oil reduction,no smoke from exhaust,and still runs like a bit*h.i mean ive literally seen car going in 140 with ac and 4 people on board in no time..
like wise my i have khyber,its a 99 model and ive had it for more than 5 years now. when i bought,it was a hasty decision and i had to overhaul the engine just after one month of purchase.costed me 19k with all..and till then no issue with engine,no oil gettin low and all,no blow.car AC works fine for a khyber.so its not what car you buy but how well its maintained. i change oil at 4k and engine after overhaul has done 65k kms and still going strong...
so all in all,cultus,efi one has 4 cylinder and is much powerful than old carby one and is durable... dont just cuss it man

Cultus and PERFECT AC ????.....Joke of the year i believe...we have a num of official cultus at our office from 2008 to 2013, i have not seen a single cultus with even guzara laiq AC..just see the blow of AC...absolutely poor...u cant run it on 1-2 , you have to put it on full...only then u will feel tht sum AC sorta thing is ON.

I know cultus lovers will not agree to it, but plz if u say that cultus AC is perfect or even OK, you must experience AC of some good brand, it even can not compete in 1000cc category..Santro, joy, exclusive, coure, vitz, duet all these are having way better AC cooling and blower as compare to cultus.

Whats your budget ?
If its around 800k then get a clean City why ? Because its a good car and spares are not that costly and car is economical to run
If your budget in less than 800k then get a Cultus or you can get a City EXIS 2003 in less than 750k in good condition

City is quite,comfortable and the best part is the mileage and performance:every bit is worth the price tag but if u compare a cultus with it then cultus is noisy,not that comfortable millege it gives is good but performance is not that good and on top of that poor built quality of Pak suzuki does not justifies the price.rest is ur decision

if the car is maintained then it would serve you well for 3-5 years
a few members have Honda City driven more than 200k km and still going strong

Go for well maintained city in 03-04 model.Suzuki has no quality control here in pakistan,driving comfort and performance of city is way better than that of cultus.if u talking about resale in pakistan then may be cultus as in pakistan ppl prefer mehran as it has best resale.dont go on mentallity of ppl rather go for your comfort.however city 03-04 wont be that bad in resale even after 2-3 years

the only con for city is that its spare parts would cost more than cultus. and both of them will require regular maintenence
in the matter of drive, suspension, AC, trunk space, etc city is way better
so it all depends upon your priorities.

My nana's Cultus 2002's A/C is indeed hopeless during daytime in summers but bro's 2009 one has exceptional chilling. Funny thing about this is that in the past years, it had to visit the technician twice every summer. Both are first owners by the way.

I found this old thread and found that people were favouring City over Cultus EFI.

Now I am going to ask the same question. Should I go for CIty 2002 or Cultus EFI 2008-10?

The reason for asking is, I want a car that has better fuel economy and cheaper maintenance. I currently own 2003 Cuore that has bad suspension and bad fuel economy due to carb engine.

Please help me out with your valuable experience and knowledge.

Iwill suggest you cultus efi.
We can talk on this alot but in simple words you ask ans then its that newer car required less maintainence if maintained well.

You have created such a useful post. I also came to the same options with the same conditions of yours as its going to be my first car, only with one addition that I have to drive the car in interior Sindh ie Umerkot and will have to visit Karachi once in a month or two.

I think City will be better, as it will demand less visit to mechanic if properly maintained. However, the availability of the parts will be issue. I will get a few in Umerkot city and rest in Mirpurkhas or Hyderabad. On the other hand the parts of cultus will be widely available in Umerkot city. but cultus will likely to take me to the mechanic more frequently after long drive from Ukt to Khi.

Kindly help me that Is i am right in my conclusion or your want to suggest me something more better.
