I think 1.8,Should do the trick,but in my view the 2.0 wouldn't hurt that much either,I really like them low,but then again that's just me :),So pick the one which suits your driving style the most and about the other stuff you have mentioned,So i suggest you should consider getting a front and rear strut bars and the anti-roll bars from a Scrap Si or may be after market one's that will drastically improve the handling of the car with the lowering and as the CF hood can be expensive i think your idea of getting a spare hood painted black is just the trick you need to save money for the other stuff :).
