Power steering oil leakage solution

steering is working fine, sometimes feels a bit hard when car isnt moving
i'll take a pic to show which pipe but there were just two pipes, one going at the back side n one coming from under the bottle

can i add zic oil in it
it has honda oil in it currently, almost at end

i dont think i can add zic oil in it so i should throw the honda's oil n add zic? or wait for it all to drain out

whats the point of using honda oil if its all gonna drain out, that mechanic filled the bottle to the full, way above the marks n now its almost empty n at times steering feels hard cox of low oil

dont know whats the problem n what to fix @fahadwizz

for now only a seal is leaking.. using non honda oil will make sure the other parts of the pump stop working as well

it isnt seal as all seals have already been changed

n there was already another oil in it n not the honda's oil which was working with out any issues

Ok first of all you will have to fix the leaking pump. In Karachi it available for 6000 (Kabuli) from Wasim Engineering. I had my city 2002's pump replaced from there and never had a problem for 3 years. After the pump replacement Wasim recommended ZIC so it was used on ZIC from there on. Obviously HONDA PSF is the best stuff for honda. With Honda PSF steering feels awesome but in a leaky system it can be costly. Apart from that, Honda oil builds more pressure than ZIC. I think because it heats up fast and has a different viscosity. It does rip an old system. ZIC on the other hand (experience with 2002 City which had a leaky Rack & shot PUMP) runs kind of cool and never leaks.

You should check the clamps on high pressure lines. You cannot use the clamps at exactly the same places on the rubber pipe as the clamps presses the pipe over time making it thinner. So after years, the clamp does not provide the same locking force as it used to on a thicker pipe. Try moving the clamp here and ther on the thick side of the pipe as it might only be leaking at locks.

And no you should never ever mix Honda with any other oil.

pump isnt leaking anymore, thats the thing, i checked it by rubbing my hand under it, its all dry, n the thing under it is also dry, but the stuff in between pump n the bottle seems wet to me, one thing thats leaking might be the pipe he mentioned but what else, could be the clamps

btw i dont know which steering oil was already being used, but later it was changed to zic n now its back to honda oil, but i really didnt noticed any difference, both times when oil was changed, bottle was cleaned with petrol b4 changing oil

by flush u mean the same thing? throwing out the oil, clean it with petrol n fill other oil?

well once i had Toyota corolla and its power steering pump was getting bit seepage from the pipe fixed beneath it. mechanic said "6k ka khercha hay bhai koi bara masla nahi hay" well it was a holiday and i had enough time to find where leakage was hiding, i cleaned that area with petrol with the help of "phiss phiss bottle" and put some silicone " grey wali" and there was no sign of leakage till car was with me (i can say that silicon served me 3 yrs).

another thing, i am having accord 89 whose gear box side beneath head was leaking mechanic said "pura gear box khulega neechay utrega phir seal lagaygi aur phir ho sakta hay clutch n pressure plates waghera bhi faulty hoon, babu taqreebun 10k tou kahi nahi gaye" i tried same technique for this laid under car and cleaned it with same phiss phiss bottle, put enough silicon and there is no sign of any leakage for past 4 months.

same once happend with my honda bike, every second month its head cylinder seal ( vo jo paper ki bani hoti hay ) it gets broken and oil starts leaking from there and cover all the engine. changed it for 4 to 5 time but same issue after a month or so and finally i observed it happens due to ms aliment of that aluminum piece any how silicone is doing good job for that leakage as well from past year.

Note: but it depends how critical the leakage is mine was observed not to be so serious that is why i tried this practice.

during my night drive steering felt really hard at time, after reaching home i checked the oil in bottle n there's hardly anything left at all, i guess i should top up zic oil on it, or loose one pipe if possible n let it out n then add zic oil? @fahadwizz

Just use any good oil. Does not make any difference even if its mixed a bit. Just dont run on empty bottle.

Replace it. Not at all hard. To keep things simple, just disconnect the low pressure hose and put in an empty bottle. collect oil from reservoir and turn the steering lock to lock a couple of time. you will have around 500 ml collect form the hose. reconnect and refill.

i decided not to start the engine on a dry pump. the right way would be to keep supplying oil from the other side.
