Prius or Corolla? Confusion and doubts everywhere

Corolla over prius anyday! Prius is not ment for Pakistan. Toyota Indus just launched it so that companies would buy it. Prius is a menace once it starts giving problems. I've seen an owner literally kick his car. A friend's prius broke down in the middle of the road. The car wouldn't move. It was stuck there. The mechanic couldn't fix it (toyota 3s) and charged 3k for 'emergency services'. The car was moved a lifter and later taken by a tow truck and sold the very next week. Now, he has a NissanPino and he is much happier. He claims the fuel expense to be the same.

And as for suitability for Pakistan, then many of the luxury cars present in the country shouldn't be here, same goes for exotics and same goes for classics, sab Mehran le ke phirain because for Pakistan that car is ideal.
Now don't misinterpret my statement that I am bringing Prius at par with luxury cars.

My statement was regarding suitability for Pakistani roads, and I don't know why is there a tendency to just measure a car's worthiness on basis of roadside Ustaads or everyone is taking their millions of worth car in villages, in my view the person who cares for his car won't smash it in ditches and will have probably a cheaper car for such errands. And with passage of time the bigger workshops are getting knowledge of Prius, my own friend, mechanical engineer from PNEC Karachi has enough knowledge to replace the hybrid battery on his own.

Let me give a small example

If I drive down a road in rural texas in a Prius and break down I can call a towing service to help me out with it, I can wheel it to a Toyota shop that will service it and put back into service - if its in service warranty I dont pay either.

If I drive in chakk 32 in some area of Punjab and it breaks down - the nearest place to get it working again is one of the three large cities of Pakistan - a pretty darn long drive from any part of rural Pakistan.

the same fate was faced with land Rovers - they were mechanical beasts but had very peculiar tooling and build - "feil teknalojee" - then we had the Fiat Uno diesel - super economical car - no tech support other than the three cities.

Regarding the parts, even if they are available in bilal gunj etc, but I hate to have to deal with those shopkeepers.

Their attitude is really bad.

Plus nothing is more satisfying than brand new parts

Whether you smash it in ditches or not, it will give issues after a while. I drive a JDM aswell, and it's comfortable as F- But, I hate it when I have to run around for parts. I donot have a single prius in my social circle, actually there is one, but it's mostly seen parked in the corner, with a cover on top. Prius is an amazing car! I admit that. It's better the all our local cars interms of comfort and features, but Pakistan is just not ready for it yet!

sir if I am not mistaken in 60-70 era all car were american,german in 80 era japanese car and some where near 2000 manufacturer starting producing car in pakistan so at that time what was situation of part

attitude of these scrap dealar is really bad even in karachi once we (me and my father) had to go to shershah for the door handle of mazda 929 (the door handle of mazda 929 are very unique type similar to civic dolphin door handle) and the shopkepper were like sir 5k per piece :o and when we tried to bring him down he was like sir "isam loha kitna hai ise ziada tou mujhe lohe wala dega is handle k" :S

The 94 corolla you have is 90% the same build as any other corolla that was exported from Japan. Those export model corollas came to Pakistan too IMC also had started building the same sort of corolla so nearly all body parts were similar and perfectly useable. Not possible with cars like Prius

The american cars were not officially imported, they were baggage items, the german/british/japanese/korean actual imported cars had dealerships and parts suppliers in Pakistan.

You got Prius just because it was your personal preference, you preferred it over other cars or local craps because it's more comfy had push start or A.B.C/X.Y.Z reason but with a bit of higher maintenance price and headache.
Stop arguing on batteries or fuel savings because in a longer run it will cost the same.

Can/Should someone keep a Prius? Obviously yes, if someone wants to. Its your money and you have to burn it somewhere anyways. So prius owners enjoy your ups but stop proving to the world how it's 1000x times better than civic or c class or e class.

Hmmm, so what about a 2nd Gen Prius which is being used since 2012, has clocked well above 150,000 km and has traveled from Karachi to Islamabad plus frequently travels from Karachi to interior Sindh?
And I have taken my car to Chakwal and Fateh Jang where roads are not so good and faced no issue Alhamdulillah. My friend takes his 3rd Gen Prius frequently to Attock and Lahore and faced no issues. Not a car for long route and rough roads? Hmmm.
Several Prius are being used in Gujranwala and connected areas, what about them?
It's strange how die-hard Honda fanboys are praising Corolla all of a sudden just for the sake of disagreement.
As for me, Alhamdulillah I am very happy with all that I have and I know the pros and cons before taking any decision, I don't smoke crack that I dump money here and there.

I see atleast 3-5 prius' daily in sialkot(more abundant than avanza n probox in sialkot combined). compared to 2-3 cl7/cl9 shape accord a week, 1-2 c180 a day, 3-4 v8 lc a day.

one of the first 2nd gen of sialkot belongs to my neighbour. whenev i hear its radiator noise i wonder, lgta ha gyi iski battery(he takes it to villages and where not) but next morning I see him creeping ahead in ev mode.

May I ask that what do you drive?
All your assumptions are downright hypothetical, biased, and you are indeed getting personal.
Just look at your choice of words, burning money and stuff like that, learn to behave properly first and then give conclusions about anything after experiencing it first, not on flying rumors and all.
If you know I have two other cars as well, 06 Lancer and 11th Gen Corolla, and have kept various cars in the past, including the 7th Gen Civic which several Honda boys worship, as well as 98 model Indus shape Corolla, and mine was one of a kind.
Did I compare it with E-Class? huh? In comparison to Civic and Corolla it takes a clear lead in being "bang for the buck".
I won't waste my time on replying to any post in this thread now.
