Problems in Honda Civic 1.8

When the turn signal is on, and I turn the steering wheel to right direction far enough, there is a plastic clicking-like sound that comes from the steering column area. It almost sounds like the sound when the blinker stalk clicks back to the "neutral" position, only its louder and usually comes successively ("click click...click"). ONLY HAPPENS WHEN BLINKER IS ON

isnt it normal with all other cars aswell??

I have never faced any problem in 8 gen civci expect power window 1 which got solve by gressing it

though it is normal as there is a plastic rotating think which disengages the indicataors when its turned in the opp dir in order to disengage the indicator. Even the if u feel that the sound is more,what u can do is that u remove the steering wheel and grease the plastic rotating disc and realign it.there are marks to align them. Its an easy DIY if u have the knack. Remember b careful not to rotate the clockspring. I snapped mine in installing a new steering as i gave an extra turn. New clockspring costd just RS 10,580! so take care

Right now the only problem i encountered in the fresh March 2011 VTi:

1. Doors don't close even with normal force when all windows rolled up. Honda says its a feature. Cant say anything.

2. Seats are slightly hard but not much in my opinion. I figured that can be somewhat overcome with having leatherette stitched covers.

3. Steering pretty hard, specially at very slow speeds, but bearable. I think after 3000km I'll get power steering oil flushed and put in some good quality oil as a first step

But despite the new Corolla's soft closing doors, comfy seats, EPS, I think I have not sacrificed anything. No regrets.

bhai i would like to help but you are in peshawar so cannot meet and solve your civic issues first hand...
Anyways here are my suggestions:
1. for the doors on the hinges use a better grease and preapply a waterproof penetrating lubricant, then grease. also do same at the closing latch end (where the door meets the body and clicks-in).'note: Never use general market oils like WD40 as it is too thin and will be needed again and again and is not waterproof.

1. PLS FEEL GOOD about this feature, it is actually good to have such well-formed seats because it is best for your back muscles and backbone.

2. Powersteering... when changed, do tell us if putting in new power steering oil helped solve the problem of hard steering ?

Mechanic told me that this is how a low quality oil should look like. I put Micking fully synthetic ATF in the power steering & now the steering is quite smooth but not very smooth. mechanic told me that the pump need some time to polish and it will become more smoother with the passage of time.

oil condition by looking at color is not possible to judge.
Is this Micking ATF oil made in USA or other country ?

civic have very cheap interior...like its dashboard quality....hardly honda monogram chrome at steering stay for just 30 to 40k km....same problem with the hand break and also with the manual gear knob....

yes but atf is not so simple oil to evaluate and if changing early then need to ascertain the cause/causes. many times color of oil can be perfect and yet it may require changing. but nobody will go for a detailed analysis. caution is the word here!

The possibility of steering "slightly smoothing out" with passage of time is quite possible considering the fact that my car is driven just 700KMs. I'm gonna try to carry out some research on which oil to use for the power steering but my take is that it wont make much difference. Anyone know a good brand with price and location from where to buy?

Thank God till now i haven't faced anything major in my 8th gen. and all i would like to say is that this car does require more care and attention to it as compared to the 7th gen. so all do take good care of your cars and im sure it won't let us down. I am loving my 8th gen. and specially the sitting adjustments on the Oriel variants is awesome, i get the driver side seat to the lowest position and it feels like im driving a Go cart

Bump for new owners

1- Seats are back wrecking for long drives.

2- If you get bad quality petrol, it wouldnt driver smooth on low revs.

3- Especially after rain, when the dirt gets into the window panes, the power windows start to dance, but WD-40 is the cure.

4- I feel a significant difference between the post and pre 08 models, the quality now is pretty different.

5- Spares are expensive.

6- A pillars effect your view a lot.

other than this i love my Civic.

agreed to this line.06-08 models were having soft quality throughout the car on steering,doors and dash.
