Problems in Honda Civic 1.8

About my experience: Well, I got mine booked from Honda Point: staff was courteous; they kept me well informed about the delivery of car; I requested an inspection before their own inspection; they called me the day car was driven in and I checked it thoroughly for any issues. Got (kindof) leather key chain and foot mats; The only thing I didn't like was the fact that car was not washed properly;

I have driven approx 1000 km and I haven't yet found a single major issue with it. Minors follow:

• Sometimes the lock button on remote key does not work in my garage.
• When I open the sun-roof cover; there is a minute but noticeable noise from roof;

What I am missing in this car:

• Audio controls on steering
• Remote boot-lid opener

These kind of stories are heard from mehran and alto owners.
Iam damn sure that the car you brought had arrived weeks ago at the showroom and multiple parts would have been replaced since the problems you are telling havnt appeared anywhere. Especially that battery thing.

Where as for those scratches. Its clear that your car has been abused by some showroom MD. Like how i saw the "MD of technical dept. of Honda City sales, Lahore" buzzing the brand new civic on the kalima chowk at 150kph back in august 2006 when it newly arrived. Obviously it was booked by someone else and i personally know that guy since we're buying civic for the last 15 years.

And i can tell you about your 2nd question,

Not even a single wire/bolt is visible in the boot and all of it is covered finely.

As for your third question, i keep a prosmatec so it is really keeping me problem free Alhamd-u-lilah.

When I say the wires are visible I mean in the boot "dhakan" when you open the boot and look at the boot lid from the inside. In the previous city there is a sort of carpet lining even on the inside of the boot lid which provides sound insulation.

Please look at the attached pics of the 8th gen civic in America to get an idea of what talking about.

Does your civic have that cabin air filter or not? I want to know if mine is missing or is it simply not supplied with the civic in Pakistan.

I got my civic 4 days back and got the car sound and safe. It was trouble free and had no problems or dents/scratches.
I think they personally messed up with ur car or something weird happened. They were lokking for a TOPI and they gave it to u.

I agree with FahadKhalil, u shouldnt have taken the car in first place and asked or another or lodged a proper documented complaint. Documenting Stuff always helps.

I have started facing strange noises from the passenger side A/C vent, like if some paper is stuck there. I have thoroughly inspected but couldn't find the source.

Also I feel the paint quality on the civic is pathetic when compared to corollas. I have been using microfiber cloth and waxing all my cars with mothers wax every 2 weeks. Civic is already full of swirls while not a single swirl exists on either of my corollas.

I agree with you mani. Got a black civic prosmatec from honda city sales two days back. The paint quality is pathetic, some pieces don't match. Also the build quality of the civic has gone down. The rear door handles of my car were not painted, and a chirping sound is coming from the passenger side a/c vent. I did check other cars also and one car's side mirror was not painted, another car's a/c control's were not working. I was not expecting this from honda..

I also had a silver 02 civic and 04/05/06 corollas. No swirls on civic but swirls on corollas, which shows that back then, civic had better paint quality but reverse is true now. I agree black is more prone to swirls but you cant imagine how much I cherish my civic. It has done only 3000km till now and I keep it under cover most of the time. Altis on the other hand has done 10,000km and is used on the highways. Civic is washed every week from the pump and polished very carefully using proper wax applicators and microfiber cloth etc.

Has anyone had a problem with the civics cat converter? I had to get it removed because of a huge decline in the cars performance.

If I have understood correctly from the posts in this thread, I think:-

1. Overall, the standard of Civic has gone down. Despite the money they take, Atlas Honda is dealing us in 'pure Pakistani' way.
2. Previously, the boot lid used to be covered with carpeting etc, to hide all wires and bulbs, but new Civic (2008 - 2010) does not have this.
3. 2nd gear in manual civic has a genuine 'sticky' problem.
4. Visibility on drivers left and right is affected by the design of the car pillars.
5. Seats are harder than these should be.
6. Stock tyres are of poor grade as compared to the price of the car.
7. At an average scale, overall attitude and professional competence of Honda 3S dealership mechanics and staff is not up to the desired standard, all over the country.

I suppose these are the common observations that I could sum up here. Remaining points are in essence individual in nature and does not pertain to over all Civic 8th gen.

Hope someone conveys these observation to the higher administration of Honda in Pakistan and Japan, so that they may come some improvement in all the above mentioned aspects.

i have a 2006 and there is NO boot lid carpeting. can someone show me a pic of what im missing? pic of honda atlas civic

i beleive this is a worldwide problem, cylestine can answer better.

its been almost 2 weeks now, honda islamabad pitstop doesnt have rear brake pads for civic 8th gen. :-#

like others, i also have chirping sound coming from the passenger side air vent, feels like something is lose in there.

if u want to add more problems, almost ALL early models of civic 8th gens suffered from sticky front windows ( the rails were/are misaligned )

Well i myself was facing problems in my civic 8g but fixed everything under warranty - like changing of both front wheel bearings & Idle pulley tensioner replacement & now alhamdulillah quite satisfied & loving my ride.

talking about the built quality - i have compared build qualities of new GLI with civic and trust me GLI is a joke when compare it with Civic - it looks like Toyota is manufacturing cars in Gizri

I agree Honda has also decreased its built quality but on comparative basis i feel its much better than rolla.

So saqib u must be hating honda now. Especially 8th generation civic. Or you still think that this car rocks? Just curious. And what was the main cause of this problem. Any diaganosis? Did replaced radiator caused problems?

Problem was with bleeding after radiator change. Honda Faisalabad missed it for som er eason. Bleeding is a must whenever water drains from cooling system in 8th Generation Honda.

About my hate for this car. I have never been a fan of hondas. found them to be too complex and overengineered at places where they shouldnt be. From a practical aspect also, never found it very roomy or comfortable. suspension is also a question mark. In the end it is very different from our conventional cars making it a love or hate type of car. nothing moderate about it.
