A 17 lakh car not offering a single airbag.This car is worthless in my opinion.I think my vitz is better than our local 09 corolla which is even comes with 2 airbags which are enough for the safety.(Y)(Y)

@^^ I think airbag is available in 17lakh variants of this car. Altis and 2.0d saloon falls in this range and they have the airbag. Just check the Toyota-Indus website.

The most important problem in new corolla which may be very few owners will be aware of this is that our local manufactuers have placed some kind of computer system under the bonnet (which was placed in dash-board of previous model) and almost controls everything in the car.. And if that thing gets wet so that car is done at that point.. And because of this reason we are scared to take this car out of house in rain.. :0

There should be some solution to this problem. There are many Xli's and GLi's are running on the road so some of the owners should have done something to tackle this problem. It will be appreciated if they post there solutions here.

yeah thats a point to b noted...thats called ECU...its located inside the engine bay besides battery in all corolla nd even new city.....i dont think rain water can get to that spot,but its definately a problem when washing the engine...if i ever buy a rolla or new city,i wud do sumthing about it,like gettint it wrapped in somthing tough n water proof....that damn thing can cost upto 50 000rs ...

Well, Shape if fine, moving on with the same old hierarchy of Corolla.

Still i would say Old shape was much better than the new one.

as toyota corolla has made this new shape on the pattern of toyota camry.its a good car i have xli 2009 i love this car but the material used in its dash board and bumpers is very weak.the door panels are not made according to planning.its pistons are weak and i have seen many new toyotas in workshops due to oil pump pressure.never wash the engine because its not fx or mehran taxi its a new genration car just clean it by a cotton cloth with a solution for engine.other wise i liked the shape pasand apni apni.lolz

after going through all the pages and reading all the replies, i have come to know there is not a much difference of quality in City 09 and Toyota 1.3 variants. cars are overpriced mainly due to taxation and recent recession which badly hit Pakistan. it is quite understood that Government implies taxes in recession just to stabilize economy but what has happened to the quality of Honda and Toyota products i mean the total cost of a car includes both Factory ex price and GST......in other words customer is paying both the tax and cost of car then why Toyota and Honda have decreased the quality.......aren't they getting the cost of expensive parts being paid by the customer????

i recently have sold out my city 09 mainly due to the quality issues like stiff suspension, knocking of engine in first gear specially when AC is on, third class plastic used for dash board and doors inside panels, ABS isn't very effective, no quite cabin, lots of engine sounds are heard inside the cabin while driving, some people have ECU programming problems in first and second gear. also, there are some basic accessories missing like no high mounted rear stop lamp, no arm rest for the driver and no light in the trunk........lolz what has happened to Honda now?

i was thinking to buy Gli after selling my city 09 out but now i think i would have to sell it as well after sometime due to more or less same issues........what we are gonna do with that......which local assembled 1.3 car we could buy now......all are craps to me.........

resultant to all that, i am going for 2006 Corolla X or Premio G grade....

you seems liana lover.........btw liana rules what???......the workshops??? because every time i go to suzuki dealership i see 3-4 lianas lined up for the rectification of issues.........lolz please dont mind.

i was proud to be a dissatisfied customer of liana but i sold it out after when i had to change the gear box, hubs, nuckles and front bearings of my zero meter liana.......in the second week my ECU was reprogrammed as it was not doing good in first 2 gears.....this is what liana is!!!!!!

i have recently bought 2009 altis cruse tronic SR,and um very much saticfied.wonderful car.no problem at all.door penels r wooden.sunroof,ABS,Airbag,leather seats,great pick with 1.8 engine.

@asinzai: even if u cover it completely, avoid washing your engine with pressure water.. just clean it with a semi-wet cloth..
