Proposed summer biking trips. Suggestions welcome!

Ali Malik MAR 4080 meters is the only closest thing to malik pass i can find on map of deosai. i thinks its the same. its on the main track btwn sheoshar lake and barapani. it means if u cross deosai on jeeps u will cross malik pass

you must be talking about Ali Malik Pass. It is the pass from where road from Skardu goes to Deosai via Sadpara.

How many days will be in pocket of most of the participants.??? Any idea???

I have no idea....but the kind of trip we are planning..requires at least 7 to 10 days....

bajur agency is not in way of dir. unless u r coming from afghanistan!!!!!. u can reac dir either via malakand pass or via chitral from giligt side. u can also fly to chitral and drive back to dir but its expensive trip

brother,I am talking about the way to chitral ......Say we are in Islamabad........how to reach deer to hit chitral....some road map.....

1-yes from islamabad u reach mardan- daragai- malakand- batkhela- chakdara- timergarah- dir- Lowari Pass- drosh -ayun-chitral.

option 2

islamabad -gilgit-ghizer(gupis phandar ) shandoor- chitral.

route 1 is shorter but depends upon openeing of lowari pass. in july its open!!!!

Rehman Bhai your 4x4 can go anywhere where our 1x2 go+some extra places where even our 1X2 can't go:).
Yes that proposal was lengthy. Some part of it can be done or some other plan can be considered.
Rehman Bhai if one goes Dir he wont have to go through Bajour but certainly he would have to go through Temargara which is in Vicinity of Bajour Agency and just Dir river separating the two. Now they have constructed a bypass of Temargara. Dir city also has a bypass.but these two cities along with Malakand Agency are Vunerable as far as security is concerned. but hope that security condition may get imrovised till july. Other way to reach Dir is from Chitral side. One more way to reach Dir is from Sawat side. This road was constructed by the Taliban for their supply line and you wont find this route on map.

One thing I would like to mention here,that the trip to "FORT MONRO" was just because of the inspiration I received from you.....I am Also Thankful for all the help during our stay in DG Khan and guidance from you and sherdill bhai on Phone throughout....
It would be a pleasure to enjoy your and sherdill Bhai company in the coming trip of July.....

I would be having around 10 days... So, what ever the plan is finalized, it will be fine with me...

As beauty of these trips is that anyone can return from any spot without any difficulty according to his comfort...

That most of the group members (tentative participants) including me ..never visited areas beyond Naran.

So for as per tentative members, the tour/route should be like that to cover much areas in short time...

For that new members the route should be Pindi-Naran-Babusar-Chilas-Skardu-Deosai-Gilgit-Khunjrab (upto lake or loading bikes in boats), Shandoor-Gilgit-Chilas and Pattan Daso-Besham-Thakot-Mansehra-Pindi.

Rehman Bhai what can i say. Its your greatness and humbleness nothing else. You are always more than welcome Rehman Bhai. Its like an honour and pleasure for me if i could be of any help.
I am also looking forward to join you brothers for atleast some part of the proposed july trip. Rehman Bhai i have been to Shandoor last year alone on my GS. I got stuck in that area for a week or so due to the blockage of roads caused by unexpected heavy rain falls. Infact if i remember correctly it was the eve of 27th july,2010 that i had just crossed the Lowari top and stayed in Ziarat on way to Drosh. Rain got pouring the whole night and the next day all the roads to lowerlands were badly damaged. Even the lowari top got closed for traffic and the only option i have was to keep travelling to Chitral. Got info from PTDC Chitral and they said that there is no chance of opening of Lowari-Dir road for a month because it has been wiped out from different sections and Chakdara bridge has broken. They said that road to Giligit from Chitral is also closed at different places due to land slides/broken bridges/road wiped out by river. i know that how i got my 118kg GS out of these blockages. My miseries kept cotinuing as after reaching gilgit i stuck there due to blockage of KKH at Pattan. Babusur road also got wiped out. Someone told me about Batuka Pass from Chilas which leads to Lulusir lake. I got lucky this time as FWO opened Babusur road by deploying temporary bridges on the broken-bridge streams, the same day as i reached Chilas. but again got stuck in Naran at Malakandi land slide area. My GS's electric wiring got burnt due to driving in constant rains which i got rectified from Abbotabad. I also got fever when i reached Mansehra. So that journey took a lot of toll from me. So i was avoiding that Chitral area for some time. but if brothers like you are there then how can i stop myself

Thank You so much Farhan Bhai for such detailed answer......I read it twice with concentration and felt as if I am reading a horror story....:)...
You are correct about 27th July Last year....first rain of the season which continued n continued to a disastrous flood......
I was at Banjusa Lake on 26th July.....in the evening,came back to Rawala kot as we were staying there....When woke up in the morning..i.e morning of 27th July,noticed that it was raining the whole night but not very heavy....I don't know why....but just decided to come back to Lahore the very moment...although it was not raining at that time.....That decision which was taken not by me but ALMIGHTY ALLAH proved to be correct and we reached Lahore by the evening of 27th July......
And that deadly Rain started and continued.....I was with family and traveling on LC weighing almost 3 tons.....impossible to move in the circumstances you just stated above....
So I just escaped by the GRACE OF ALMIGHYT ALLAH......
Lets see Farhan Bhai what Majority decides....But I think,where ever we decide to go ,it should be in early July before the Rainy season to avoid any "unexpected".....
As you have visited the proposed area recently so no one else other than you can be the best "TEAM LEADER".......

Let me add more here Sherdill Bhai, That Farhan Bhai visited Shandor area last year...please read his above detailed post......
So I think we should consider his advices in all respects as far as Shandoor area is concerned...
