Tried it on manual and it doesnt work.

Suzuki told me its a known issue and its due to the stoppage of airflow in the car when in bumper to bumper traffic.

Or engage your car in any gear (D or R), pull the hand brake and park it. Since it is basically a manual car with actuator, it acts just like how to park your manual car when putting in gear.

The manual says when the car is facing incline/ascent then D gear should be used and when the car is facing decline/descent then R gear must be used.

Two more points to be noted here:
1- AGS car does not start when in gear
2- AGS car can not change the gear without electric power

So, if your AGS car was being parked in gear and now you want to drive, first switch on the battery (point where all lights show up in instrument cluster), then put the car in N and then start.

What is the battery dies overnight and car was in gear? Is there a manual override to make it neutral?

same type of questions were asked when the automatic transmission 1st came into market. If the battery dies, how will we push start the car like we do in manual gear. Battery dies once in 3/4 years and one has to replace dead battery anyways, so it is not a problem.

With traditional automatic, once the engine stops the car can roll in any gear except park (which locks the ring gear), and a provision is provided to move the stick out of park without battery power too. Even on cars with electronic lever the gear can be released from park with either a special tool or by turning a bolt and manually forcing the pawl to unlock.

My point was, if the ags car is now dead and was parked in gear you definitely need to use a booster pack to engage neutral.

You almost always need to move the car to a favorable position to replace battery.

How will a tow truck driver tow it if the battery is flat? Find a jump pack (almost all of them dont own one in Pakistan)

In pk it doesn't matter, I saw an old khyber parked in the fast most lane of University road, with one wheel jacked up.

Now if AGS battery dies some one will come up with a more brighter (read dreadfull) idea.

No there ain't any.
The AGS assembly and ECU needs to be energized in order to execute the change after the input given to the shifter stick.

now imagine, if the shift position sensor went cuckoo, like for example someone sprayed it with high pressure water and also the battery decided to pee its acid on it.

Ive seen similar things in Pakistan. One guy left his car for a whole day like that (because garmi bohot hai) - came back to find out that someone had nicely removed his lower control arm and also the cv axle from his car.

it was a 1999 civic - and year was 2007 I think when I saw that - epic LOL moment.

I have driven all three Suzuki AGS recently. All cars (Alto, Wagon R & Cultus) were almost new. Pathetic "Jhatka" (Hickola) on every shift, one cannot drive it smooth.

Jhatka/Lag, yeah that’s the cons of AMT based transmissions.

Though the lag is not much noticeable while driving with low RPMs(~2.2k or less). But when you drive with heavy foot on high RPM then the lag is considerably high.
However, there is a trick to reduce that lag. That is, just take off the foot from accelerator for a fraction of the second, just when you feel engine requires a gear shift, and then rev-up again. You will get manual like pick with just a flick of the foot
