If u talk to Al haj proton reps/ higher ups, they are saying the import of CKD Kits and remaining x70 plant machinery cant be done due to enhanced movement control order (EMCO) aka lockdown enforced by Malaysian Govt. On the contrary, if u visit Proton Malaysia youtube channel u can see see the coy is fully active despite so called lockdown. Proton Malaysia recently launched X70 Special Edition and today they launched facelift version of persona and iriz vehs in Malaysia. Moreover, they also launched proton x70 in Nepal month a ago.
As per Proton Malaysian Company Youtube Channel, production plant in Tanjung Malim, Malaysia has the capacity to produce 200,000 vehs per year. Yet they failed to produce and import 500-600 X70s to Pakistan; About 100-150 customers who booked CBU X70 units are still awaiting the deliveries.
I am unable to understand whom to blame for all the delays??? Is it due to inefficiency of Al Haj Gp or by the slow response by parent company in Malaysia who has invested 30 Mn $ in Pakistan??
I am really disappointed in Proton Pakistan, as they are not giving any timeline when CKD X70 will be delivered to local customers like me. I am really thinking of cancelling my order.
Despite of so many entrants in Pak auto industry, not much options are aval in SUV segment presently with a budget of 5 Mn. Tuscon had already closed their booking. I am only left with Kia sportage option as its the only coy with a promising delivery timeline of 4 months.

@fazalwahab11375 can you look into this predicament, please. We keep on hearing from AlHaj that the movement con order is the reason for the suspension of deliveries however, given the activism of Proton Malaysia, can there be some other reason??

Proton had a very promising lineup and competitive pricing but they chose a bad local partner in Pakistan imho.

I think there's confusion going on. The lockdown in Malaysia is still present. All new vehicle launches are virtual.
Even if you visit Proton Malaysia website, this image is displayed right now on home page

2021 is the worst year to book a new car. All manufacturers are giving approx delivery timing of more than 6 months.
Right now, there's a supply demand gap for automobiles around the world due to Covid. The world is facing global chip shortage, shipment delays, parts delays, etc.

I was considering to replace one of my hatchback with sedan. Here's are my findings.
Suzuki closed the bookings. Honda City is 6+ months. Changan Alsvin is 6+ months. Proton was not even able to start manufacturing for Saga. I believe this is bad luck for Proton Pakistan. As soon as they launched, strict lock down was placed in the home country.
I don't know how Toyota is managing short delivery timing with Yaris.

So a car launch is not just a launch ‘event’ be it virtual or physical. A new car requires RnD, design, parts manufacture, assembly, marketing, after sales services etc. I think the discussion was around the fact that all this is still going on in Malaysia but Al-Haj keeps saying we cannot get CBUs because of lockdown in Malaysia.

a friend of mine booked his cbu X70 on the opening day of booking in Dec 2020 and he received in June, almost after 7 months. The problem is with both local partner Al-Haj and Parent company Proton Malaysia, also many logistic/shipments been disturbed everywhere in the world, shortages of micro-chip then lockdown of Malaysia due to high cases of covid-19 n its still in lockdown. Even in US many cars delivery also been delayed, i have booked new FL revo in April first week and delivery is in October end.

Engineers can work remotely, except manufacturing, which I think is not happening. All showrooms are closed as per Malaysian website. Only after sales services are provided on appointments only.

Whatever the reasons are, it's giving bad image for Proton Pakistan. Both Al-Haj and parent company should do something about this, otherwise we may soon see videos of fights in showrooms like MG, and Changan.

AlHaj Is known to have played foul by favouring friends and family and by selling directly or through Peshawar dealership which was not even established once most of the CBUs were booked in December. They cheated the customers up till jun where after they had the right excuse of lockdown in Malaysia

So routine shipping time of 12-14 days ckd would arrive in mid September... Interesting development finaly...

I've seen similar demands. But has ANYONE actually bought at such a RIDICULOUS price?
I mean even for the CBU, 1Mil own (as per the original rate-not comparing with Ckd), is a LOT of money for this class of vehicle.
What's so special about it?
For 6mil, one can get a MG HS or even a Tucson(lesser equipped - but bigger), and also a much better resale outlook in the future.
Proton x70, imo, majorly had the price attraction going for it, take that out of the equation and it makes it just an ordinary offering like all others

Both X70 and MG HS are in the same league. Just because MG has overpriced it in Pak doesn't make it a better product.

Tucson(lesser equipped - but bigger)

Tucson and X70 are of the same size, in fact, X70 is slightly longer and taller.

This is true. Undercutting Koreans and Japs is how Chinese companies gained foothold in most markets. 6.4mn for X70 is absurd.
