PSO Carient Engine Oil - Share your experiences

After coming across this topic, I decided to use the PSO Carinet Ultra in my Suzuki Liana Eminent.

Before this I used Shell Hx7 10w-40, which is fully synthetic oil and quite expensive. It should also be noted that the (Suzuki) company recommends this oil. This is nothing more than a 'fraud' and the reasons are;

1- Synthetic oil is only good for colder climates.
2- It breaks down and becomes utterly useless in any temperature above 30 degrees Centigrade.

The main points that attracted me to try out the PSO Ultra are;

1- It is a mineral oil and does not loose viscosity under high temperatures.
2- It is very rare to find adulterated PSO oils.
3- It is the most cost effective oil in the market currently.

Finally some words of wisdom to all you Pakwheelers;

Please do not believe the words of fraudster Mechanics/Shop owners, car companies... they don't give a rat's *** about your investment. Also they are uneducated and couldn't help you even if they wanted to. Don't forget they aren't there to make your life easier but to make a fast buck!

Used PSO Carient Plus (API SG one) and Deo 8000 in petrol car.
Carient was decent (sort of better than shell w.r.t engine smoothness and decomposition - by decomposition I mean when oil can't withstand the heat and starts burning in the sump giving foul odour) but Deo was better than Carient. Used both for 10,000 km.

i think people really need to educate themselves about what they are talking about rather than just think that their limited info will get them by. i've seen many members spread misinformation on this site, and it's our duty to correct them.

it is now available in API SM for Rs. 2200. 2000 KM done and still doing gr8 in my vitz

In my opinion SL is the lowest grade that one should opt for these days. this oil is oxidation resistant to a large extent over SJ grade. This gives u the advantage of longer oil drain intervals. you can use the oil more than 4000 km (if ur cars condition is good).

the highest grade that PSO offers is SJ. Its not cost effective to use this oil in my opinion cuz it needs to be changed at shorter intervals and u wat u save from its low cost, u end up paying more for the filter / service charges. This oil is beneficial if you have a 2 stroke car or a car with a messed up engine that burns oil.

as far as viscosity (20w50 or 15W40) is concerned i fail to understand which grade is best for u. i think the one specified in the manual of the car is the best.

i ve seen many advertisements in which companies specify one of their oils as suitable for "best performance" and another as suitable for "best economy". and i ve found that the one suitable for economy has a higher viscosity (mostly 20w50) as compared to the one suitable for performance. and i ve observed it too that 20w50 gives slightly better mileage on my car (civic 02 vti oriel prosmatec), although I am not fond of using 20W50 on my car. i use 10w40.

so the choice of viscosity grade depends upon condition of the car as well as what u want to have (performance or economy). theres no hard or fast rule that tells u what oil is suitable for ur car. either way you should use an oil that changes looses its properties more quickly. it has a bad impact on the engine (IMO).

PSO oils are worst which i had ever used.
they are equal to local unbranded oil, i have use it in my Santro 2002 model for a year and they perform worst in hot weather and u cannot use then over 2,000 kms.

my sugesstion do not use these oils.

PSO Carient Ultra SM 7500 km done in Vitz, will be changing it again this weekend. Its a myth friends that only imported oils are worthy of our praises. 2200 Rs was good price and plus with Secure code u can immediately check whether the product is genuine or not.

I agree with your comments. I used to use Shell HX7 (10w40) in my cultus and it was a very good oil. Unfortunately Shell changed the viscosity to 5w30 (if i m not wrong) and now HX7 is not as per the OEM standard. I too switched to PSO and have changed oil 3 times and its good.

For everyones information PSO was the only blending unit in pakistan few years back and they used to Blend lubricants for different companies like Caltex, Shell etc etc. I think you guys should give it a try its a good oil.

Hogwash.. Synthetic oil is not only for cold climates, nor does it break down after 30 degrees C. Bear in mind, BMW, Mercedes, Porsche, and other manufacturers recommend synthetic oil.

hmmmmmm here is my experience, 
 
I have 2 gli model 15 and 16 
2015 is on toyota 5w50 oil and 2016 model on PSO carient 5w30. 
2015 gli is on 17k on odo and giving 12km/l in city approx 
2016 gli is 10k on odo and giving 13.5 km/l in city approx not less the 13 for sure 
 
Both are on 50 50 hobc and supper from same petrol station. 
 
5W30 car having more engine crisp sound in idle and while acceleration, lighter feel. 
 
surely will be converting other car too over pso carient 5w30 ..... cost effective , oil replacement is 5k with original toyota oil filter.
