Purchasing Car on Father's Name

I am planning to purchase our first car. Since this would be our first car, I am planning to keep this on my father's name since he had a long term dream of buying a car which he could not. The showroom insists that he want to receive payment from the account of the person on whose name I want to get the car registered. Now the issue is that I have payment in my bank account and my father don't have any amount in his bank account. If I transfer the payment to my father and then to showroom from his account, is this going to be an issue? One of the branch manager raised concern that such transaction could face delay/issues due to amount being in excess of 4 million.
If this is a big issue, can I just pay from account and then transfer the car to my father? Kindly tell me which is better and legally compliant way? Or I could not get the car registered in my father's name?

There are two modes of payment. One is cross cheque and other is PO. Cross cheque obviously will be from your account and it has your name on cheque and in that case they can say what they are saying.

But for PO as far as I remember it has just the beneficiary's details on it. So you can make the PO and the booking can be done on your father's name. I dont think dealer should be concerned about who transferred money to the bank account from which the PO is made. They just need a PO in company's name.

Check with some other dealers also.

And transferring from your account to father's account is not a problem. Across the bank it can be done in a day. I recently made a transaction to my brother's account ( it was more than what you have stated ) and it was done in a day from standard chartered to bank alfalah. The bank manager just called my brother to know the reason of that transfer. Its a blood relationship so no issues at all.

Just write a cheque from your account to your fathers account , if its the same bank regardless of branch its instant transfer after cheque clearance , after your father receives the money in his account , he can make a payorder from his account to the showroom.

If you buy the car in your name (pay order was from your account) then you'll need to register the car in your name and then transfer to your fathers name.
Direct registration to your fathers name if the invoice is in your name will cost approximately double the registration cost.

So my advise just transfer the money in your fathers account and make payorder from his account , and book car in his name. This will also show him as first owner in registration documents and will be a plus point whenever he wishes to sell the car.

sir @daniyal.ashraf1 are you buying at 100% payment or leasing.

showrooms / dealerships / does not have authority to ask for payment from x for registration of vehicle to y., specially when it is within the kin / sibling. and 100% payment.

Neither the bank can raise any objection when the money transfer is clear and between the banks. to avoid hustle you can make 2 transactions 24 hours apart, showing respect to bank manager suggestion.

incase of bank lease the case is different.

@sardarg it means if i pay on cash 100% cash then i cant register to my kin or sibling or wife??

as far i know when i bought the Car on cash from shoroom.. i made the P. O of suzuki and filled the form the guy asked do u want me register ur own name or any other..

in the form intially i thought about my wife but later i changed it and register to my name..well

sir when you are making 100% payment you can ask dealership to register vehicle in name of your choice. Filer / Non-filer WHT apply in both cases.

You can take delivery and documentation and register the vehicle yourself in any name you like.
